  1. The last couple days I've been screwing around with a couple new programs. One downloads videos from sites such as YouTube. The other does all the work making animated gifs out of video. To help familiarize myself with them better I thought I'd make some gifs from a few Wilco videos floating around out there. Now I thought I'd share them with you. Sorry if they take forever to load, but optimizing them is one of the quirks I'm still struggling with. Sometimes that damn Adobe IR & CS2 just don't cooperate with me!

Apologies and thanks go to the original video creators, the people that posted them up, the band, etc, etc.

  2. There's been a few good movies so far this year: Hot Fuzz, Sicko, and Ratatouille. Also it looks like No Country For Old Men will be another. Probably The Golden Compass too - damn that was a great series. And hell I bet I'll laugh my ass off watching the Simpsons Movie. :shifty

  3. I saw it last night and thought it was fantastic. A must see for virtually everyone. My girlfriend was crying at the end because she thought it was so sweet. Now it wasn't ever side splittingly funny, but it's generally amusing from beginning to end, with many touching scenes, and a great message throughout. And the animation was amazing!

Second best movie I've seen this year, after Hot Fuzz and just before Grindhouse. Yes I have eclectic tastes.

Rat... is literally about a million times better than Transformers. Man did that movie ever suck!

  4. Somebody taped the sound check of this show - went up at Dime yesterday and is currently well seeded.

  5. To the OP, I thought Home Improvement was a good show, but once the kids grew up and got kinda awkwardly ugly the show got a bit tired. And they hardly mentioned Windsor at all, for a show that's suppose to be from Detroit. :pirate

That said, here's my TV DVD collection:

Buffy The Vampire Slayer, seasons 1 - 5 (6 & 7 mostly sucked ass so I didn't bother with them, though 7 gets good near the end)

My Name Is Earl, season 1. Will buy season 2 in August. Love it!

Battlestar Galactiac, season 1, 2, and 2.5. No need to get season 3 - it sucked ass.

    The West Wing, seasons 1 - 7

    Wonderfalls[/b], first and only season.

And I will be getting Heros season 1 too. Damn was that ever a good show!

And if only I could afford Rome 1 & 2... :mellow

  6. Great recording, great performance. Overall a solid 'A' for quality. Maybe a little extra hootin' and hollerin' here and there, but nothing that really takes away from the songs.

Also I can hear myself (barely) yelling "Bring it on" (my only shout out) just after Jeff starts speaking after Hummingbird, a second or two after Jeff says "we have a lot of bittersweet things to share with you later" (but before the "SBS is brilliant" comment). Thankfully I didn't fuck up the taper's recording. :shifty

So thanks to the band, the taper/person who upped it, and the rest of the great crowd. We all made it a great show.

  7. After the show Saturday night in Toronto I asked Glenn if there would be a Detroit date in the not too distant future. He said absolutely and that there would be a mid-west tour near the end of the year.

  8. Not much I can add that hasn't been said already. It was a great show by a great band at a prime moment in their careers.

I took the train up from Windsor, about a 4 hour trip each way, just for this concert - and it was worth it! :thumbup

Was too far away during the show to get any decent pics with my digicam, which didn't stop me from trying a couple of times. However I was lucky enough to meet the band after the show. They signed autographs, posed for pictures, and chatted a bit. Great guys. Jeff wished us a happy Canada Day, which by this point in the evening (morning?) it already was. And it was! When asked if they were planning on returning to the Detroit area Glenn said absolutely and that a mid-west tour would be happening at the end of the year. Fingers crossed they play the State theatre (the Fillmore? I guess it's name changed), or the Opera House, which I hear is nice too.

  9. That stinks! Now I'm kinda glad I got shut out during the MT pre-sale. Though to be fair I had a difficult time with Ticketbastard - not MT, but the real one - during the Gen sale. At the time I fired off a nasty letter to them, and the next day they actually wrote back. Funny I've noticed those verification code boxes have gotten a bit easier to read since I schooled them. :pirate

  10. Reading this one at work:

    themammothhunterscoverom5.jpg

Light and fluffy second sequel to Clan of the Cave Bear. Clan is still the best of the bunch, where the 1st sequel, The Valley of Horses, while having some interesting moments also had far too many poor story elements, notably the story of the two brothers, which I felt was silly and not up to the level that Clan started. I'm about halfway through Mammoth and so far it's better than Horses, but a notch down from Clan.

    Rereading this one at home:

    g1lw5.jpg

Hopefully I plan to reread this one and and the next 3 sequels in time for the release of the fifth book, which I believe is suppose to be in the fall.

Also plan to reread the last 2 Harry Potters in time for the publishing of the final one, so I better get reading them soon.

  11. We will be webcasting WILCO 's show from The Enmore Theatre in Sydney, Australia on Saturday, April 21. Showtime is 9 PM in Syndey/7 AM in Chicago.

Sounds like a grand ol' time!

So will that actually be Sunday morning at 7 am, or Saturday at 7 am? Time zones drive me crazy :punch

  12. Probably a waste of my five minutes, but here's the nasty letter I sent to Ticketbastard's customer service

Today at noon I had tried to buy Wilco tickets for the show at Massey Hall in Toronto. Now I was treated to 3 or 4 of the most illegible and nonsensical gobbledygook verification codes I've ever had the displeasure to experience. I of course wasn't able to discern what crazy random and unreadable mess they were and had to start all over several times - preventing me from getting what I imagine were better seats.

Why are the verification codes so illegible? I understand about the bots and whatnot trying to automatically get tickets, but seriously there is NO reason for your codes to be unreadable to humans! Somebody at Ticketmaster should be forced to try to read them, I don't know, maybe to get their pay every week. I bet things would change then!

Or here's an actual suggestion, since there are registered users at your site, perhaps those people who are already registered and only plan on buying one or two tickets could skip the verification code. Maybe make it so people know if they choose to opt out of the VC process, they can only buy very small amount of tickets and then they are locked out of purchasing more for that event without resigning in with a verification code. This would have the added advantage of getting lots of people to sign up at TM.

    Hippycat - unhappy Ticketmaster patron.

  13. Not on Monday as it says on the Wilco site! Just checked Ticketbastard to see how much tickets would cost and they're selling them now.

And going fast by the looks of it. Ticketbastard was trying to give me this:

    PRICE LEVEL 1

    ** OBSTRUCTED VIEW SEATING **

    * * * NO BOX OFFICE PICK UP * * *

SOUND WARNING-SOUND VERY POOR FROM THESE SEATS

I held out for something a couple rows/seats over. Still not very good though.

Also good luck with some of those Ticketbastard verification codes, they were fucking illegible as hell for me.
