  1. I cannot believe this. For the past 2 1/2 years I've been working literally directly across the street from Tanglewood. I just recently decided to move back to California in 6 weeks and then Wilco is booked to play Tanglewood in August. Ridiculous! Oh well, at least I got my tickets for Outside Lands festival already, but come on, Tanglewood?

To tell the truth, Wilco is one of the last bands that I would figure to play at Tanglewood. Aside from the annual James Taylor concert, it's mostly just Western Classical music played by the Boston Symphony Orchestra or the Boston Philharmonics. And then every 4th of July they get like a Leann Rimes or the New Cars, but Wilco, never thought it would happen.

Enjoy to all who can go. It is a great time of the year in the Berkshires

  2. My .02

Neil's crunchy Crazy Horse tone. Jeff's tone from ALTWYS, Spiders, pretty much AGIB really harkens back to that classic Neil tone in my opinion.

This should be obvious but Johnny Greenwood!!!! The Bends, bends my ears!!

    Totally agree with that one.

One who I don't hear too much about around here but really has some of the most crystal, beautiful tone I've heard is Steve Kimock. I'm not so into the whole Jam Band scene, but his guitar tone is really impeccable and I could listen to a lot of that stuff for days.

I'd put Bill Frisell in a real class of his own as far as tone goes as well

  3. Page

    Hendrix

    Kelly Joe Phelps

    Ry Cooder

    Bill Frisell

    Michael Hedges

    Tom Morello

    Johnny Greenwood

    Stevie Ray Vaughn

    Django Reinhart

    Jack White

    George Harrison

    Santana

I'm also not seeing any love for David Lindley. I think he'd round out my list... and I'm about to hit the add button, but I can't stop thinking of Cline and Tweedy and how much their guitars have meant to me lately.

  4. also jeff didnt talk and interact as much i dunno maybe its jet lag hope they have fun in byron still

It doesn't seem that he's been doing much crowd banter these days. Just playing the songs and letting them speak for themselves. I miss it though, Jeff can be a pretty funny guy.

  5. odd concert because the encores were very disappointing for me

faux-Stones straight as an arrow 'rockers' aren't a patch on Future Age > Spiders or ... hell i dunno, Lonely 1, Pieholden, Wishful Thinking (anything but I Got You, sorry)

I think the encore is exactly to the tee what we got for an encore in New Haven. Though, I've got to disagree with you, the Being There finale in that order rocks, and in my opinion there is absolutely nothing wrong with Wilco rocking.

  6. The more I'm sure it's Sue!

I just watched it this morning and thought that was sweet. Really only something us fanaticals would pick up on.
