Jesus... I can't believe these discussions still go on. Bands evolve, people change and go their seperate ways. It doesn't mean one is better than another. I personally prefer Jay's influence on the band than the stuff that I've heard since, but I won't discount Nels' or anyone else's work as inferior just because I happen to like the alternative.

More importantly, the band doesn't really give a toss what we think about issues like this anyway. Jeff is going to steer the ship in whatever direction comes naturally to him regardless of what the fans think.

Sit back and enjoy the ride or seek out a new band that blows your hair back more than Wilco. Either way, it doesn't seem necessary to belittle one in order to praise the other.

That's all well and good as long as there aren't a bunch of jackasses sitting around you splitting K's and hitting 16 against a 5.

Heard the version on DP 29, Lakeland, FL 77? That and the Row Jimmy are delightfully sloppy and dirty, and inspired. It's one of my favorites.

I don't believe so. The majority of my boots are still on tape and I kinda stopped collecting awhile ago. I was shocked last year when I saw how many DP's there are now. I remember waiting impatiently for them to release them faster when they first came out.

What do you think it is? I know we have good athletes and all but we just can't seem to get anything going at the international level. A lot of the guys on the US play in the Euro leauges so they have talent. Are the other nations just better tactical players or what?

The problem is that none of America's best athletes play soccer. We're never gonna be any good because nobody cares about the sport in this country. I've been hearing the argument for 25 years that we're up and coming because of youth participation, and we're still "behind the curve" with respect to knowing and understanding the game, but once we catch up... look out! Never gonna happen. Let the rest of the world have soccer. God forbid if we ever do become good. Surely we can be forgiven for American Imperialism, but there'll be hell to pay if we fuck up futbol too.
