I like the Easy Beat album better thant he new one. I'm far from a huge fan of them but I like the style they are trying to work with and I've heard nothing but good shit about their live show.

  3. I've heard some pretty reliable rumblings that Wilco is playing Summerfest here in Columbia, MO in the 19th of September. Which means a free Wilco show three blocks from my house.

Last time they played Summerfest 2 years ago it was like $15 but damn it was worth every $. A nice autumn night in the middle of 9th St. It could well be free, Guster was free last year as well but I bet there is a ticket price. Either way, I'm there.

  4. 3. Gillian Welch - I was simply blown away. Her and David Rawlings were amazing nonstop. John Paul Jones played mandolin and sang harmonies on 3 songs, and they also covered Black Star by Radiohead and To Be Young by Ryan Adams. Great set.

Saw this one on Blueroom broadcast and it was really top notch.

  5. if Ryan Adams can sit in with Phil and Friends ( and he does a hella good Wharf Rat, yes hella good) and even let him play the wolf, Jeff would kill on some Dead tunes.

  6. I thought of one when I was in an altered state last night

Like a skeletal ribcage out line or something, with a treasure chest inside, maybe some little bubbles symolizing that chest is sunk in water.

Now that I see it written not near as cool, maybe would be if it was drawn up well enough. Like I said altered state.

  7. i agree with you wholeheartedly.

big. deal. people are taking it way too seriously.

just enjoy the band who write songs you love.

    i can't stress that enough. it's baffling.

honestly what percentage of people but die hard fans really know it's a Wilco song in the first place?

I haven't heard any of the douche's I work with saying "Hey that catchy Wilco song on that VW commercial is hot. They should play American Idol sometime." So I think the integrity of the band is probably safe.

  8. Aman,I can see how you might feel that passion played a large roll in this controversy, but when is it just too much?I for one can say I am guilty of acting on passion, and that my passion can easily turn into agression.I just remember when I was younger, going to Phish shows and seeing how neggative people were to the bands music, yet going to every show on tour. Not that Wilco has that knid of fanbase, but what if it did,I bet it would look very much the same.

I'm been Phish fan for sometime as well and know the negativity you speak of. I noticed that more with Phish fans than any other band on how negative people are not only about the music the band plays but other peoples opinions right down to other music they listen to or how many shows they have seen. I was usually happy to be there and unless it was just an obvious f-up I either didn't notice it or didn't care. I probably over analyze art and music as much as the next guy, I think in my old age (32) I've started to figure out it just takes away from my enjoyment of the music so let the cards fall where they may. Ultimately it's their music and I personally can't help but like it supposedly sell out or no. It would take a lot more than a commercial or a soundtrack to make me give it up. :thumbup

  9. Dammit I should have replied to that post when I had the chance. I abstained with my opinion, which isn't any different than many others... that could have been my 15 minutes, that could have knocked Tweedy-in-law into a stooper. He would've told Jeff, and I could've travelled with the band defending their positions on everything.

Actually one time at my local venue, I had to have a disucussion with Jeffs brother as he claimed the table I was sitting at was reserved for him. I didn't realize who he was so I was pretty damn rude about it until Jeff put the spot light up and was like I'd like to say hi to my family who made it in." I felt a bit like an ass then, but I stood in line for a long time to claim a good table so I got over it.

  10. Stupid question here---

What is the proper way to pronounce Glenn's last name?

Is Kotch like former NY Mayor Ed Kotch or...

    Kotch-ee

or is it KOatch with a long "O" sound...

or a combination of any of the above. This question has kept me up nights. :stunned
