The movie didn't have the subtle, ongoing, quiet tension that was so brilliant in the book. I am not sure how it's even possible to translate the things I found so appealing about the book into a film......However, the relationship between the man and his son became even more intense for me in the movie. I can't remember the last time I had to sit through the credits just to give myself time to stop crying.

I actually like the fact they play less music these days. I used to get so frustrated that weekday evenings were filled with music shows. There are plenty of stations that play music - and only one good talk station. They still have World Cafe and Radio M and a few others. I don't mind a little music here and there - but the weeknight lineup was not to my liking. When I moved to Chicago from STL I was pretty unimpressed with WBEZ, since KWMU in St Louis has a great NPR/PRI lineup. Then again, that's just my preference.
Now, if they dumped eight-forty-eight for some music programming? I'd give you that one.

News and Notes doesn't air in Chicago now - but I think it used to. I just heard it here in STL a few days ago.
I have been listening to TAL via podcast for a long time now and they hit up podcast listeners every six months or so for donations for bandwidth. I still get my TAL through iTunes.
Maybe WBEZ would do better if they didn't give out those stupid coffee mugs (after you tell them not to send you one).

You'd never see the likes of Pujols, Konerko, Howard, Lee, Youkilis, Fielder, Morneau, etc pulling something like this off.......
That is still likely one of the best plays I have ever seen in my long baseball watching life. Gooooch!

beautiful night, beautiful park in a beautiful city filled with the most beautiful people. I was quite tearful, hugging my neighbors, making friends, and just awash with joy.
The only thing that would have made it perfect was to have our Emily with us. I miss her so much.
WE DID IT!!!
one of my favorite sights was standing on the Congress Ave. bridge watching the "parade" down Michigan Ave. surreal.....wonderful!
peace.

An even better analogy is someone who falls off a car while car surfing at 60 mph, which is something I've actually seen.
you saw the Teen Wolf???

Arrested Development could very well be the best show ever on network television. I got my mom hooked on it a few weeks ago when I was visiting and we watched Season One on DVD.

so, with your argument Ikol, if someone has a fat insurance policy, but continues to smoke(or whatever) it's okay for them to drain insurance companies of their money because they paid into it?
I mean, of course, it's ridiculous when people continue to smoke, drink, etc when those things threaten their health, treatment, etc.......but it sounds like you're only angry with poor/uninsured people who do it.
Even with insurance, someone else essentially is footing the majority of the bill with those huge procedures - i.e. all of those people who pay in, and don't get sick......So, do insured people owe it to the other insured people to take better care of themselves?
I'd just like a clarification of your argument.

This is "faith" to me.....in a language we can all understand.

Scott, such sad news. I read about the aneurysm yesterday. I didn't know she had passed away until I read your post. I knew the prognosis was not good. She was one of the good'uns. RIP.
