  1. So what about all of the fans of other teams who became Sox fans in the last 4 years?

    douchebags.

I will forever and always be a Cardinals fan - but since marrying a White Sox fan (and one who is obsessively a White Sox fan) and moving to Chicago, I have become quite a Sox fan myself. I certainly watch a lot more Sox games, since it is more accessible and that damn MLBTV is just shit. And yes, Hawk sucks. DJ is just a wet mop. I am quite smitten with Ed Farmer and Steve Stone, though. I love listening to Sox games on the radio.

  2. My sister and the kids and a bunch of us will be doing this. Since about half the crowd is severely claustrophobic, it should be great fun. :huh

we had something like that in STL when I was growing up. It was at the Magic House and it was called The Touch Tunnel - what an unfortunate name. My friends and I loved it....my parents? not so much.

  3. My ex husband loved his fixed gear - though he had one of those hubs you could reverse it into a single speed if you wanted to. He was very zen about his bikes and he loved his fixed gear because he said it made him feel closer and more in tune with the movement and the machine - felt like one with it - etc.

I remember my first ride on a fixed gear - it really throws you when you naturally go to coast and your legs keep moving and you almost get thrown off of the bike. I learned not to make that mistake again rather quickly. Stopping was also a challenge to get the hang of - but once you get it - it's a lot of fun. I was never confident enough to ride one regularly.

  4. My son says that fixed gear bikes with brakes are for pussies.

damn skippy - I love riding fixed gear bikes - it's been a long time. We found a pretty nice fixed gear when we cleaned out Brad's apartment. I keep meaning to give it a spin when I go to his sister's house. I did Critical Mass on a fixed gear once. Good times.

These days, I ride a Terry Susan B - though I don't like it nearly as much as my old LeMond road bike, that I sold like 2 years ago. Big mistake.

  5. I don't see why it even matters. I can't think of a single thing that they could have been doing that they deserve immunity. If they did something illegal, they should be held to the same standard as anyone else and be subject to whatever criminal or civil punishments the system provides for. If they didn't do anything illegal, then they don't need immunity because there'd be nothing to immune them from. The whole point of this is to prevent an investigation into what the telecoms did, because it would likely implicate a whole lot of people in the White House and in both parties in Congress in much of the illegal behavior, or at least of being aware of it and not doing anything about it. It's totally CYA for Congress (as well as bowing down telecom execs who finance their campaigns).

    :yes

  6. Close to 100 here in Kingston, N.Y., today. :(

oh man, I bet my mom is broiling in her place without a/c......and we are likely headed there in a few weeks. It better cool off!!
