  1. Will be there tonight and tomorrow night.

I have to work all day today, so I'm praying to don't get stuck in too long of a line to get in tonight. Took tomorrow off so that I can get into the Halo early enough to get a good spot.

No Saturday tix though. I'm sad.

  2. I'll be there tonight and tomorrow but am not able to hit the Saturday night show! F!!!

Will any of you be there?

Have you heard if they're going to do anything special for the shows?

  3. This one should only be awesome

The Black Keys Reveal Danger Mouse-Produced Album

It seems like just yesterday when we were WTF-ing at rumors of a collaboration between the Black Keys, Danger Mouse, and the now late Ike Turner... until Keys drummer Patrick Carney confirmed it in an interview last year. Turner's passing seemingly put a damper on the project, but it turns out the songs the Keys were writing for him gave them the foundation for their own record, the follow-up to 2006's Magic Potion.

The result is the Danger Mouse-produced Attack & Release, the duo's fifth album-- but their first recorded in a proper studio. Alas, no Cee-Lo guest spot, but it does feature contributions from experimental guitarist Marc Ribot and multi-instrumentalist Ralph Carney (Patrick's uncle), both of whom have played in Tom Waits' band. There's also a pretty killer slow-burn duet between guitarist/singer Dan Auerbach and 18-year-old bluegrass/country singer Jessica Lea Mayfield on the closing track.

And while in theory, the thought of a Danger Mouse-produced Black Keys record brings to mind a bunch of electronic beats and sound pastiches slapped on stripped-down garage rawk, it's a credit to Danger Mouse as a producer that he manages mostly to stay out of the way of the jams, except for a few little flourishes here and there.

Nonesuch will release Release on April 1, no foolin', and the Black Keys will head out on tour in the spring in support of the album, starting with their appearance at South by Southwest.

    Attack & Release:

    01 All You Ever Wanted

    02 I Got Mine

    03 Strange Times

    04 Psychotic Girl

    05 Lies

    06 Remember When (Side A)

    07 Remember When (Side B)

    08 Same Old Thing

    09 So He Won't Break

    10 Oceans & Streams

11 Things Ain't Like They Used to Be

  4. From what I have read on a BC message board - the feeling seems to be that Luther Dickinson is going to replace him at some point.
    that would be amazing

Also - from what I have been reading - they are mostly playing the so-called greatest hits setlist these days. And there seems to be a lof of negative comments about the shows in general.
like what? I've looked over some of their recent set lists and I think they look pretty damn good. They haven't released an album in like 5 years, so what are they supposed to be playing?
  5. or tell her that i want two free tix for tonight! haha

paul is very good & the NEM show i saw in 2003 was the best show i've ever been too. but the crowes to me are defined by marc, ed, chris and rich. not just chris/rich. which is why i never saw them from 1997 - 2001.

I agree to an extent, but I'm just not going to stop going to see them though.

I mean hell, look at Wilco. They've recorded 6 albums with 6 different lineups. I can live with a little change.

  6. damn it, i am slow today. i saw this and was going to be all bad ass, contact my friend who is married to a black crowe and get the whole inside track first to know, but Analogman saved the day (or stole the day). i should contact my friend anyway, i haven't spoken to her in ages!

yep, and you should totally tell her that there's a large group of fans in St. Louis that would love nothing more than to meet the guys in the band. (wink wink nudge nudge)

  7. they're playing here (minneapolis) tonight. i will not be going. no marc or ed. the crowes are my fave band ever & i love chris but no marc or ed is not the crowes to me. i've seen them almost 10 times & everytime w/ those two. it'd be too weird.

I didn't realize Ed was gone too!! Crap! I've only seen them with those two as well, so it'll be a bit weird.

That being said, I saw Paul Stacey play with Chris Robinson a few years ago, and not only was it the best concert I've ever seen in my life, PS was like 60% of the reason why, so I'm pretty excited to see how he does with the band.

  8. Do you know who is playing guitar for the Crowes right now in concert? If I'm not mistaken, Marc Ford left the band again and I don't know who took his spot.

    Thanks!!

(Also, is anybody seeing them in St. Louis this Friday?)

  9. There's sort of a policy about waiting for a week before requesting recordings. Keep an eye out in the Greatest Lost Track forum for announcements from tapers when they've got the show ready to distribute, or keep up with the thread for the show, in After the Show, lots of times the info will be posted there, too.

    thanks for the heads up.

I've been around long enough to know the unwritten rules, but apparently I suck.

  10. I just comitted to going to the show in Columbia earlier tonight, without knowing Dr. Dog would be opening. Should be a really great show, as I've been digging on Dr. Dog's newest album over the past few weeks. Very excited now.

Picked up my tickets to the show as well. I actually get to inteview Dr. Dog too!

  11. I raced to Best Buy to pick up SBS when it first came out, and I was just saddened to find that when I went back today that they released the bonus DVD for sale. I'm not about to drop another $22 on an album I already purchaced, so I was wondering if anybody would be willing to email/yousendit/sharebee me a copy? I'll email you a show or two as trade!

    Thanks in advance!
