I'm writing an article on the coolest people in music history, and I've discovered that my list of males is quite long, and my list of females is quite short.
if you don't mind, please throw out some females that you think are the coolest of all time. I don't want to forget anybody, so your help is appreciated.
Thanks!!

The White Stripes are so much better than the Black Keys it's not funny.
we'll have to agree to disagree on this one. I LOOOOOOOVE the Stripes and will buy everything they ever put out, but The Black Keys are just too damned awesome.

I had a copy of this song on the No Alternative compilation album that came out mid-90's, but I lost it and can't find a copy of this song anywhere. At least not anywhere that doesn't involve me having to buy the Uncle Tupelo Greatest Hits disc.
Does anybody have a copy they're willing to YouSendIt or something?
Thank you very much!!

fantastic record
tops Easy Beat for sure
I agree. I actually loved Easy Beat too.

I walked out of a Butthole Surfers and Guster show.

Has anybody heard this album yet?
I just picked it up last week and I've listened to it about 20 times since. I know it's only March, but it's easily the best album of the year so far.

I have a 60GB iAudio X5. My main issue with having that much storage is that I can never decide what I want to hear, because there are simply too many choices. (It's even worse when I stand in front of my CD shelves ... I can burn ten minutes just making a decision.)
I think my next purchase will probably be a smaller Flash memory-based player (hopefully at least 8 GB), so I can just keep on it all the stuff I'm listening to most at that moment.
Screw that! Just make a playlist, then put it on shuffle. It's the same thing, just free.
I've also discovered that putting my iPod on shuffle is the greatest radio station of all time. I listen to songs I'd never listen to otherwise and it's pretty sweet. Nothing like having Ghostface Killah followed by Hank Williams.

First of all, I'm sorry because I just basically scanned all of the posts, so forgive me if I'm repeating some info, but....
Regardless of how big your CD collection is, my advice to you is to get the 80GB iPod. Your CD collection will always grow, so why not get the biggest one available to avoid having to replace it sooner than later?
For reference (not a "dig me" note) I've got the 80GB one, and I'm up to 12,230 songs, and I've still got 11.23 GB free. I now struggle to find stuff to put on there anymore, plus I've got plenty I can dump, so I don't need to worry about buying another one anytime soon.
Now, for your situation: I didn't see you say exactly what sort of car stereo you had, but what you can do is just go to eBay and type in the model number and "iPod" or something like that, and you can see if there's any sort of connector. It's surprisingly really easy. I was able to find an adapter that I was able to plug into my stereo (I even did it myself, and I'm a retard when it comes to working with cars) and it even charges my iPod.
You can also get an iPod ready car stereo for like $150 at Best Buy. I saw somebody mention Crutchfield above, and that's an AWESOME source of stuff as well. If you really want to geek your car up, you can get a stereo that your iPod will actually link into and all the info will be displayed on the screen.
There are many options, and they're all easy. Since you don't have an iPod just yet (at least I didn't see that you mentioned it yet) it might all be a big pricey to start with, but it'll change your life. Believe it!!

by the way, where do you guys find these songs?

Thanks!
I hate to bring September 11th into the conversation, but I had just started a job the day before and so I use that event as a reference point.
I know I had heard it AFTER the 11th, but couldn't remember if it was in September or like January.
strange question, but I appreciate the tips.
-
Was it leaked on the Internet before September 11th?
I know this is a totally random question, but a friend of mine and I were discussing when we first heard it, and he could of sworn it didn't get leaked till well after the 11th.
Does anybody remember?

I found a thread dedicated to this awhile back, and I've been unable to download any of the songs from the site.
Can somebody help me out with this? Is it no longer available?
-
those were pretty wild

Thank you very much!!!!

I imagine there's a copy on the DVD download, but long story short, I'm unable to DL the songs.
Does anybody have an mp3 copy of the accoustic version they're willing to share??
Thanks!!!

just wanted to throw my thanks in

I feel like Summerteeth's effect is choked by the overproduction. Like the synth in I'm Always In Love? Not necessary (see: 2003.06.28 Penn's Landing for best I'm Always In Love EVER). Some are done well, but some are just overloaded with "crap," so to speak, and that brings the album down quite a bit to my ears.
Summerteeth acoustic, however, is mindblowingly awesome.
Zackly!!! I obviously couldn't have said it any better myself.

With the potential final game of the World Series happening tomorrow night, maybe Jeff will have to play with the game on a monitor in the background?
you have no idea how much this is killing me!!!!!!!!!!!!
I am PRAYING for a rainout or at least an hour and half or two hour rain delay so that I can catch the last few innings. Watching Tweedy, followed by watching the Cardinals winning the World Series would be the greatest night of my life!!

I'm going, and I live on campus.
Foellinger is at the heart of campus, right at the end of the main quad. Most of the bars on campus are complete crap-holes, but there's some ok ones. Legends, Firehaus, or Bar Louie would probably be your best bets. All are less than a ten minute walk to Foellinger.
I was told of those place's as well as Murphy's. That's probably where we'll start out before the show. It's close to our hotel.
-
Is anybody here going?
If so, do you know the cool places to grab a drink before/after the show? I've been to Chamaign twice before for shows, but never went out, so I have no idea where the good bars are.

During the course of the past year or so, I've been able to get my hands on a few of Jeff's solo shows, and for whatever reason (I'm guessing the grass) while watching Sunken Treasure last night, it finally dawned on me: If Summerteeth was mixed differently, I think it would be far and away Wilco's best album.
The accoustic versions of all of the songs, IMO, or heads and shoulders better than the studio versions. Especially on a song like ELT. Those lyrics are phenominal, and they seem to just get lost in the music on the album. Everytime I hear one of his solo shows, I keep thinking about how much I love the Summerteeth songs, so i go to listen to the album and don't like them near as much.
Just my two pennies.

Accustic all the way

IF YOUR LIFE WAS A MOVIE, WHAT WOULD THE SOUNDTRACK BE?
So, here's how it works:
1. Open your library (iTunes, Winamp, Media Player, iPod, etc)
2. Put it on shuffle
3. Press play
4. For every question, type the song that's playing
5. When you go to a new question, press the next button
6. Don't lie and try to pretend your cool...

Okay, I did a search for this (though admittedly a rather lazy one) and couldn't find it addressed, so forgive me if it has been, but........
Is it possible that it's actually ONE Light instead of WHAT Light?
Who's the coolest woman in music history?
