  1. Just finished "Freedom" myself and was pleasantly surprised with the Tweedy/Wilco references. Jeff is mentioned as one of the music "worthies" (along with Michael Stipe) endorsing a fictional band in the book (Walnut Surprise, which I thought was a damn funny name). Two of the main characters also attend a Bright Eyes show at the 9:30 Club in D.C. and other real musicians of that ilk are mentioned. These are certainly not he main topics of a really good book, but interesting details.
  2. A plea from a few who are traveling to see the show Saturday in Champaign-Urbana: let Jeff play his set. He's even been known to solicit requests when a performance is going well. That would be the time to ask. He's clearly trying to mix the new material with the old. Let him.
  3. Thanks very much for all the tips. I knew that I'd come to the right place. Looking forward to the show Wed night.
  4. I am one lucky Wilco fan. No St. Louis show. Couldn't make Columbia, MO. But now, by chance, I have to be in Detroit on the 17th/18th for business. Getting close to 20 years of seeing UT/Coffee Creek/Wilco/SV/Jay solo/Jeff solo - so I didn't want to miss this. (I bought No Depression on a cassette tape - yes I'm old.) I've only been to Detroit once before. Any advice on where (near the Fox) the Wilco-philes will be having beers and swapping stories (I have lots) before and/or after the show? I don't post much, but I read the forums all the time. Great way to keep up with the best music
