anyone comment on the odd sound of Sunken Treasure on 2/20?
-
article from jambands.com
wrong about I Must Be High and Hotel Arizona. but oh well.
-
all told, they did play two of the rarest songs in their catalog. I Thought I Held You (played once), and Leave Me Like You Found Me (unplayed).
-
Come on Brian. Even you aren't this thick. He never promised they'd play a ton of B-sides or anything, but even so they played 8 Mermaid Ave songs, 2 from More Like the Moon, 2 B-sides, and 2 soundtrack songs. Being disappointed in not getting more than that is extremely ridiculous.
appreciate the "even you." thanks Andy. Mermaid Ave are their LP's, the 2 from More Like the Moon were on LP's. i'm not disappointed, they were good shows. i do wish they would've dug deeper, but i'm not disappointed.
-
i have a feeling we'll never see I Thought I Held You again. unless they do the "all the songs" thing next time, again. haha.
looks like it was almost first time played. only other time was in a studio in MN.
-
great show. no surprises sans Blood of the Lamb and Just a Kid, but still a really solid show. a bit sad they only added 8 new songs on the final night, 5 of which were mandatory, but still i loved it. probably the best setlist of all, but i still think Monday was my favorite to be at.
-
so, what was up with Sunken Treasure? it was a different version. i was standing there like "wtf?" sorry, not as versed as some of you
-
Is that the one where Sleater-Kinney joins them for California Stars?
i'm not sure, but i don't think so. it's a full show, and it's in Oregon.
-
i wish someone would take a good picture of the other side, where the R isn't messed up. but by now i think the letters are screwed up too much.
-
my favorite show to listen to is actually the last show they played it, 9/04/03. it's a board, and it's such a tight show.
-
from another board i read:
I feel like we'll definitely get those five, and the usual ten repeats, but after that the rest of the night is a wildcard. It'll either be more repeats, or something way out there. I'm trying not to get my hopes up, but they've met every other hope I have on this run, so why not?
so true. very exciting.

Laminated Cat is Loose Fur. Not For the Season is Wilco. they were playing it in 2003 and it's on the YHF demos.
-
why is nobody couting the mermaid ave. songs i dont think One By One, Another Man's done gone, secret of the sea, someday some morning sometime are all that unrealistic.
ETA: esp. when you consider they've done at least 12 new ones each night. I won't be surprised if we get these and Lets Not Get Carried Away, The Good Part, Promising, or Family Gardener. And if not oh well; I can't wait to sit down and really listen to all of these.
we're counting them. it's just that they'll play Wilco songs first and foremost. he mentioned mermaid ave as secondary. but here's the list:
-
yeah i think with all the Wilco songs there are still, UT would be last on their list for these shows.
-
Not For the Season is the one i'm hoping to hear that i think has any chance out of the outtakes.
-
nope. go back and listen to it
Jeff specificially set the ground rule as the only all encompassing things were the studio albums with a sprinkling of b-sides, mermaid, etc.
i know, i was there. a "sprinkling" of b-sides, etc, isn't 1. i was just looking forward to some more rarities in place of repeats. but i really can't complain, shows have been amazing
-
when did they promise this?
the first show.
-
please understand, "least favorite" still means amazing. every show can't be better than the last. maybe it's because i was hoping for Pieholden Suite. i'll get it tomorrow though. also, only one outtake so far in 4 nights, Cars Can't Escape. seems like they shouldn't have promised that, since they're not holding up to it. hopefully tomorrow night has some.
-
tonight was probably my least favorite night, but still better than any other Wilco show i'd seen before these ones.
-
fyi, you've got the opener and closer switched
alright, all that's left now is:
- Shouldn't Be Ashamed- I Thought I Held You
- At My Window Sad and Lonely
- One by One
- Another Man's Done Gone
- Pieholden Suite
- Feed of Man
- Secret of the Sea
- Blood of the Lamb
- Joe DiMaggio Done it Again
- Someday Some Morning Sometime
- Woodgrain
- More like the Moon
- Less Than You Think
- Panthers
- What Light
- Alone
- Venus Stop the Train
- Nothing Up My Sleeve
- Not For the Season / Laminated Cat *likely*
- Never Let You Down
- The Good Part
- One True Vine
- Kicking Television *likely*
- Let's Not Get Carried Away
if they keep up with unplayed songs like they have, tomorrow night is going to be unreleased and b-side heavy. i mean, they've only got 5 left off Wilco LP's.
-
have fun everyone. i know i will. see you there.
-
it didn't quote the long list of what's left:
they've played We're Just Friends from Summerteeth?
played it last night.
-
awww none of me. i was in front of the board and they don't go back that far.
-
then don't stand outside. take a cab and get there at 7 like i am. you'll still get a decent spot. and it'll only be 3 1/2 hours inside.
