  1. Jeff's singing has gotten so much better in the last 12 years. I just heard the original recording of Radio King, and I prefer the Sunken Treasure version so much more...

P.S...what the hell is up with Pecan Pie?

    Agreed :thumbup

  2. I am a HUGE fan of Bonnie Prince Billy/Will Oldham. So, when he releases a new album I like to hold on to it for a while before I listen to it, as a treat to myself. I finally got this as a Christmas present and have been listening to it daily ever since. Oldham is a music genius. Standout tracks for me are:

    Love Comes To Me

    Cursed Sleep

    Lay and Love

    I Called You Back

I agree that Dawn's voice is beautiful, however some of the songs I would have liked to been just Will.

  3. "Wow, you've made me a Jeff Tweedy fan." - My Mom after watching Sunken Treasure. Note: She gave me a disclaimer that she a) doesn't like concert films and B) would most likely fall asleep during it. It was the best test of the film that I can think of...

I am with you NN. I gave it to a friend of mine and he claims it changed his life. Seriously. I loved everything about it...and to hear people complain that it was boring? I just don't get it.

  4. I saw it a couple years ago. It was pretty enjoyable.

err... I mean, you should only watch it if you support dictatorships, because there's no entertainment value in something that tells a story from a different bias than yours. And all those poor latins have been brainwashed by the Communists. Conversely, I've only been indoctrinated with the purest truths!

seriously though, it was pretty entertaining if you're into political documentaries, regardless of whether you love/hate/are indifferent to Chavez.

Exactly my point in posting it...thank you :)

  5. Has anyone else seen this documentary yet? I was blown away.

HUGO CHAVEZ ELECTED PRESIDENT OF VENEZUELA IN 1998, IS A COLORFUL, UNPREDICTABLE FOLK HERO, beloved by his nation's working class and a tough-as-nails, quixotic opponent to the power structure that would see him deposed. Two independent filmmakers were inside the presidential palace on April 11, 2002, when he was forcibly removed from office. They were also present 48 hours later when, remarkably, he returned to power amid cheering aides. Their film records what was probably history's shortest-lived coup d'

  6. Watched the DVD on Saturday night. Wow. That was un-fucking-real. I have been waiting my whole life to hear a musician take a stand on those loud mouths in the back, and for him to do it up there all alone took some serious balls. All he wants is for people to listen. For those of you who thought it was just "meh", please, watch it again, and really LISTEN.

  7. Ben Folds - The Luckiest

I find this a happy song...funny how people interpret others music.

One of the saddest songs I've ever heard is called All This World by Arco.

    Grateful Dead - "Brokedown Palace"

Bonnie Prince Billy does a deadly cover of this song!

Please tell my brother ALWAYS makes me tear up. Especially now since his mom passed away...

    listen dear mother

    I miss you the most

    and as I travel

    from coast to coast

    I feel your love

    and I feel your ghost

    listen dear mother

    I miss you the most

    listen dear mother

    I miss you the most

  8. I've only yet to see Wilco live twice, but at the Halifax show right before Airline to Heaven started he talked about us all imagining we were on a big ship. The show was outside on the waterfront. As he started to play, a train came by...it lasted until they ended the song. Jeff noticed and thought it was magic...it was cock!
