  1. Are there any music magazines worth subscribing to anymore? Or is it a (soon-to-be) dead medium like the 6 o'clock news and the New York Times?

Not that I'm aware of. I thought I was onto something with Paste but it seemed to turn kinda stale about the time I subscribed. It's gotta be hard though to make a music magazine that I would enjoy and still stay in business.

  2.

93XRT interview at bonnaroo where nels discusses the "you never know"/george harrison topic. he says it was a very intentional "homage".

skip to about 6:30 if you dont want to watch the rest.

Thanks for posting that link, really enjoyed that interview.

  3. yes very much so. I am surprised so many people have put it down already seeing as how the general consensus was the album is a "grower"

I'm surprised too. It's growing on me more every day. Like all Wilco releases, for me anyway, the more time you spend with them the more terrific they become. Wilco (The Song) is the only one I don't listen to regularly. Can't wait to see how these play live.

  4. I've been blown off while listening to Wilco. Does that count? :D

    :yes

Wilco will never come to my crap town (Spartanburg SC) but that's fine. Not really a live music city (unless you count pop has-beens playing in mall parking lots). Pretty lucky they come around as often as they do (Asheville 1 hour away), Charlotte (1 hour), Athens (2 hours), Charleston (3 hours). I'm normally pretty damn pumped after a show, so a three-hour drive helps me digest yet another killer experience.

  5. I've only listened to the stream (partly because of a lack of computer know-how) and I'm hurting right now. I hope the sporadic way they plan to put up the stream happens again soon before I strangle my cat. :dontgetit

  6. AM: Box Full of Letters

    BT1: Misunderstood

    BT2: Kingpin

    ST: Pieholden Suite

    YHF: Ashes of American Flags

    AGIB: Theologians

    SBS: You Are My Face

W(TA): Bull Black Nova (so far)

    MA1: California Stars

    MA2: Airline to Heaven

  7. for those of us lucky enough to get to see them live over the past few years in their iterations, a band that is def. on top of their "live" game.

so let's just enjoy it now. all things must end, indeed. but why waste headspace on the future? fill it up with the present.

    Agreed!

  8. After a few trips through, the main thing I'm missing is one or two more dark tracks. That's what made me fall in love with YHF and AGIB -- the darkness and mysteriousness. Some really nice stuff here, just feels too light. But I think I'll like it better than SBS once it digests a little more.

  9. Okay, is there anyone whose order hasn't been shipped? I'm pissed as fuck - I pre-ordered on 3/22 and my order is still being processed...? I get DVDs out faster than Musictoday, and that's saying something.

Same boat here. I pre-ordered it more than a month ago, and it was "shipped" last Saturday. I blame musictoday; I normally receive mail pretty quickly. Now I have to wait until Monday ...... maybe.

  10. I was at the Athens show in 2006 and thought it was pretty unpleasant. Of course going in I didn't know it was basically a giant basement with no seats. Call me old for not wanting to stand and elbow bump. The sound wasn't the best, as others have pointed out. But I was mostly put off by the bratty college kids who weren't paying attention and talked the whole time.

On the up side, Asheville here I come!

  11. One extra ticket for the Charleston show here. Face value ($30), of course, and Ticketmaster charges will NOT apply in this case. Row G, seat 55 (pretty close up, far left of stage, probable good view of Nels going to work.)
