My initial response upon seeing the video for the first time is documented in another thread...

"Whoa. The music video format is such a strange thing, not just in a Wilco context, just altogether strange.

Dig those Tweedy thighs though. Meeoooww..."

    :blush

  2. This is gonna be one of those threads that happens every couple of months isn't it?

All you old-school folks must get pretty bored with this same old stuff sometimes (I guess that's what the "ummm..." threads are there for).

Thanks a million for all the help and superb patience you give us newbs! :thumbup

  3. I've been observing the massive flocks of birds flying over my house for the past couple of weeks and feeling sort of funny about it. I've been admiring the sight of them and enjoying their passing, flapping, flock sound. Also, just the other day, a friend and I were talking about tattoos and she said she'd like to have a flock of birds in silhouette across her back.

Am I experiencing some sort of psychic phenomenon?

I think I've been remote viewing this album art for weeks now.

    Duuuuude, freaky! :huh

  4. "Natural juices" aren't really that healthy for you (depending on what you're actually drinking). Fruit juice in general has a very high glycemic index and spikes your blood sugar, and that's not healthy. It's much healthier to eat an entire piece of fruit, so you get some fiber to balance out all that sugar.

    I'm not an nutritionist either.

That makes sense...bummer. I was just trying to convince myself that drinking bunches of Naked Juice was a really good idea.

  5. I clicked on "My Account" and there was a link to the right that said, "How can I watch movies instantly on my PC?" Try that if it's not showing up on the main page for you.

It tells me my browser is not compatible (Firefox) so I'll have to mess with it later in IE (bummer).

  6. Sky Blue Sky Gets Us High, Too High!

This piece goes on to describe a phenomenon that began occuring in May 2007. It appears as though drivers listening to the new Wilco album are so moved by the music that they become inebriated so much so that their driving skills are seriously impaired. As a result, the accident rate among Wilco-listening drivers has "sky-rocketed."

  7. I'll have to check this out. I really enjoyed Clockers alot.

I picked this up as an advanced reading copy about 5 years ago and am just now getting around to it. It's not great, but it's kept my interest so far. For some reason, I have three Philip Roth books, but have never read anything by him before.

I remember really liking Goodbye Columbus but it's been awhile, so who knows...

More recently, I thought this was swell enough...

  8. for some reason i take it personally when my favorite songs are put in commercials. most recent horrors:

the the "this is the day" in an M&M commercial

Hem "Half an acre" in some insurance company

    M.Ward in a cadillac(?) commerical

    surely there are others...?

oddly, i didn't mind it when VW used Pink Moon, in fact, it made me want to buy a VW, but these others--yuck.

I have friends who have tried to turn me on to Hem and I never really made the effort to give it a listen. One night that commercial came on and I was all wowed by the song, so I googled it and when I saw that it was Hem, I felt all ashamed that it took a tv ad to turn me on to a disc a friend had burned for me weeks before. Conclusion: Maybe it's not a bad thing if it turns people on to the music?
