relatively old..but still exciting...saw it a while ago but for those of you that havent or are still excited by the news and want to discuss.
Kevin Shields has revealed, in an interview published in the January/February issue of Magnet Magazine, that he intends to record another full-length with My Bloody Valentine. It would be the shoegaze overlords' first album since 1991's classic Loveless.
"I do feel that I will make another great record," Shields told the publication. "We are 100% going to make another My Bloody Valentine record unless we die or something. I'd feel really bad if I didn't make another record. Like, shit, people only got the first two chapters, but the last bit is the best bit. It's just that it's taken me such an oddly long time for that to happen." Wait. Better than Loveless? Kev, we know good for press and everything, but holy crap, dude, what are you saying?
Given Shields' recent remix and solo work for Sofia Coppola films and Go! Team singles, the guy has a lot to prove-- although there's no question the album would certainly be one of the most highly anticipated releases of... whatever year it eventually comes out. As for what year that might be, Shields was hesitant to give any kind of timeframe. (Actually, the answer was, "I don't know," so let's just take this with a grain of salt altogether.) But Shields did have this to say, in defense of the band's inability, thus far, to follow their magnum opus:
"A lot of people say the reason My Bloody Valentine didn't make another record is because we couldn't. That's mostly true, but not because we couldn't make another record, but because I never could be bothered to make another record unless I was really excited by it. And just by fate or whatever, that never happened. I'm quite optimistic about the future, even though experience has taught me that I'm probably just delusional."

Arcade Fire - Funeral
New Pornographers - Mass Romantic
Wolf Parade - Apologies to the Queen Mary
The Velvet Underground and Nico - S/T
Gang of Four - Entertainment!
goooood
i cant stand classic rock like led zeppelin, the doors, rolling stones, all really boring to me
but i do agree with please please me.
-
ughhh more wilco publicity
-
Adult Head feels like you stole one of Jeff's notebooks, which is cool, but seems one-dimensional compared to the wilcobook. which it's supposed to be, but still.
yea thats why i like it
-
anyone have either?
i have both, i really like both. the wilco book is really interesting, shows the band's new dynamic, i also enjoy some of the music thats on the CD.
i really really like adult head though. Jeff's poetry is really great, and you get an idea of where he songwriting comes from.
discuss.
sorry if there is another topic on this. :/

wow, its not like hes the only dad that has ever yelled at his kid.

How can you say that when you just said "basically you're all wrong" when talking about the quality of AGIB and BT! I realize everyone has an opinion but you just voiced yours in saying your opinion was the only one that mattered and everyone elses is crap.
wow, no, i said "you're wrong" because he said that Pitchfork has been "giddy" about Wilco ever since Summerteeth and YHF got good reviews, which is incorrect. so me saying "youre wrong" is completely justified. and now, i will say it again, to you. you're wrong.
How can you say that when you just said "basically you're ALL wrong"furthermore, i didnt say all. i was referring to one persons post regarding pitchfork's attitude towards wilco.
-
A Ghost Is Born and Being There got bad reviews because they deserved it? To me, as a big Wilco fan I find that funny and furthermore stating that "basically you're wrong" in reference to that statement on a Wilco message board is a little silly don't you think?
i am a 'big wilco fan' as well..its this thing called...oh...whats the word im looking for...opinion...OHHHHHHH
-
Hahahahaha!
yep, laughing is a cool way to imply that you're smart and witty, and a good way to be extremely annoying.
-
pitchfork hasn't been any different in their attitude toward wilco. they gave summerteeth a 9 something and yankee hotel foxtrot a 10... that alone will make them giddy over a band no matter what they release afterward (exception - and you will know us by the trail of dead). i expect they give sbs a 5... it's just not on par with with what tweedy and co. are capable of. i'm waiting for another live cd to hear how these songs should really sound.
they gave summerteeth and YHF good reviews because they DESERVED good reviews..and no it wont make them 'giddy' over a band no matter what they release afterwards. Ghost, and rightfully so, got a bad review. furthermore, so did being there. so basically...ur wrong.
-
I would like to be the first to reply... Unless someone beats me to it. Here's my impression of the YHF fans that are butt hurt about this new album.
"Oh, a good review of SBS. Probably the last you'll ever see again."
Has there been any bad reviews.... ?
Not a one. It's a great record, so aside from Pitchork's inevitable 6.whatever review, I'm not expecting a whole lot of disappointment.im one of the YHF/Summerteeth fans that are 'butt hurt' about this album to put it lightly. the only reviews i respect, care about, and take into account are the reviews done by pitchfork. and mmmm, i cant wait for the 4.6
