  1. WILCO is a great band that is at their best when they are moving forward and breaking conventions. This is why WTA is their least inspiring to date. It is a rehash of WILCO from the past 15 years. A "country album" would be a move back to Anodyne, A.M., and Being There. All GREAT albums and some of my favorite recorded work, but I would suspect that the band would prefer to move forward and not backward. What about that "Dirty Soul Record" Jeff was talking about in interviews prior to SBS? That is a record I would love to hear....something in the vain of The Thanks I Get...but funkier and with horns. :rock

p.s.-I know that Anodyne is a U.T. record. Edited to keep away super fans.

  2. I view this as a game, and thus will not take it too serious. Faves and least faves of the moment(they are always changing)...

    AM-Dash 7/ I Must Be High

    BT-Misunderstood/Someday Soon

MMA-One by One/ Another Mans Done Gone

    ST-Candyfloss/We're Just Friends

MMA2-Mountain Bed/ Blood of the Lamb

    YHF-Pot Kettle Black/Reservations

    AGIB-ALTWYS/Hell is Crome

SBS-Impossible Germany/Please Be Patient With Me

WTA-One Wing/Everlasting(my least favorite Wilco song of all time)

  3. I find that spelling and grammer should be subjective anyway. Often times more meaning is convied in a mispelling intentional or not. And I like the spirit of your review Panther, the songs sound best live. This is not a "great" record though, and I feel like you let the band off the hook due to previous greatness. It is like Amniesiac by Radiohead. Good record, but for Radiohead it was a low water mark. They bounced back in the studio, and Wilco will too. But for now, it is my opinion this is the worse record the band had ever made. It is all relative. If this record had been made by Fall Out Boy, or the Jonas Brothers, it would be an instant classic for them...because they do not make classic records. In the shadow of BT, ST, YHF, and AGIB this record........just doesn't hold up.

  4. Oh relax pal. I getcha now... it was just taken out of context. How was I to know that's when you posted it? Besides, this isn't the first time I've seen someone correct someone about a lyric. I don't claim to be "the superfan," and never will. ;)

    I'm not your "pal". :thumbup

  5. I like it, but it's one of my least favorite Wilco albums. I think One Wing, Deeper Down, and Solitaire are my favorites. Everlasting Everything remains my least favorite Wilco song.

that says it for me as well. it does not take a whole lot of risks short of Bull Black Nova. I like risks.....

  6. Don't wanna be that guy, but the lyric is actually "jet-lag palm."

I know the lyrics to wilco songs. That was an actual status I posted after a long weekend with the kids. It was supposed to be fun, and many of my friends "got" the joke. Thank you "that guy". More and more people on this site seem to be in a race to be "The Wilco Superfan". It didn't used to be that way.

  7. Nope.

    I've already explained by thoughts.

If the band references in the movie make a bunch of people legitimately discover Wilco, then that's great. If it makes a bunch of people like one Wilco song, that's also great. If it makes people think they like the band based on that one song, that annoys me.

Don't be annoyed. Life is too short. Celebrate what you have in common with folks, not the little differences. :)

  8. This is bullshit. Take no more time. There would be some text somewhere to be of proof....

i wanted to be right, and for him to be alive. this is so sad. so long jay bennett. i will always think of what would have been.
