  1. I can't decide between:

    Your phone won't ever ring

in the middle of the night

    and if it ever does

I can assure you it won't be me

    or

Cheer up, honey I hope you can

There is something wrong with me

The first one, with the voice cracking on "ever does", always makes me shiver.

The second one just hits me like a ton of bricks...there's hardly any dynamic range in the way he sings it, but there's so much emotion behind it at the same time.

  2. Hot-headed shooter wanted more chili sauce

    BY ERIKA BERAS

    eberas@MiamiHerald.com

A Wendy's restaurant manager almost lost his life to a disgruntled customer early Tuesday morning.

    The cause?

Chili sauce. The shooter wanted more.

According to Miami-Dade police, just after midnight, a man was going through the Wendy's drive-through at 18181 NW 27th Ave. As he picked up his meal, he told the attendant he wanted extra chili sauce.

When he didn't get his sauce right away, he began arguing with the attendant.

Then, when he did get his sauce, he wanted more.

The attendant told him restaurant policy prohibits a customer getting more than three packets.

    The customer insisted on 10.

The female attendant complied, but the customer continued arguing.

The attendant asked the customer to pull up so the manager could come out and speak with him.

''The manager came out to inform him of company policy, and he shot at him several times,'' said Mary Walters, a Miami-Dade police spokeswoman.

The manager was struck in the left arm. He was taken to the Ryder Trauma Center at Jackson Memorial Hospital and is expected to recover.

The customer fled in a brown four-door vehicle with a female passenger.

    That's thrilling news.

Even moreso since I'll be moving to Miami in a couple of months. :dontgetit

I guess I should cross off that particular street address from my list of places to live.

  3. So have you ever rewritten a song? How many swigs of whiskey did you take afterwards? :beer

In my early songwriting days, I wrote what I thought was a pretty nice ballad.

Turned out I'd re-written "Patience" by Guns n Roses. And I'm not sure how, because I never listened to GnR until after I started writing songs.

  4. I've got the original and I really enjoy it. For someone like me who just does home recording and doesn't know a drummer, it's quite a useful tool.

I was wondering if anyone had bought any of the expansion packs. If so, how are they? Same general quality as what came with the original program?

  5. I like "mistakes" on songs.

I read that the Mama & Papas song, "I Saw Her Again Last Night", had a recording mess-up that was left on because Paul McCartney offered up the advice that it sounded better with the 'mistake'. It's at the part near the end where the singer says, "I saw her.....I saw her again last night...."

He wasn't supposed to sing "I saw her" twice....but somehow that weird break makes the song.

Good example. Another famous one is "Louie Louie", with the false start on "See Jamaica moon above".

  6. First reviews comparing SBS to a the best recored the Eagles never released and now a Starbucks display?!?!... Hurt the band's pocket book no, hurt our future live concert experience, yes!

    I hate arena concerts!

There's gonna be a HEARTACHE TONIGHT!

    a HEARTACHE TONIGHT!

    I know...

    ugh. must go shower now.

  7. A lot of people do things to project a certain image. Like... if you hang out at Starbucks, you'd probably listen to Wilco or whatever they have on the shelf because Starbucks is "your thing"

Like kids who hang out at Hot Topic and wear body jewelery and Him t-shirts...

I'm not saying everyone's like this, but a lot pf people my age are sort of malleable and are pressed into molds formed by places like Starbucks and Hot Topic.

(Also, I do like coffee, and I have been known to browse through Hot Topic, so don't get defensive, I'm really not trying to put anyone down)

I know what you mean. I'm probably the same age as you, actually. :)

I hate coffee. Hot Topic I can deal with.

  8. I'm sure being in Starbucks has some kind of positive impact on sales.

I just wonder what kind of person decides to add a $13.99 CD to their $4.00 coffee order?

Perhaps I'm old school, but I normally don't plan on adding to my musical library when I go into a food/beverage locale.

  9. I second everything redshift said, and add the following:

Under no circumstances bring any children with you.

Don't plan on being anywhere for several hours after the race.

Wear sunglasses...not so much for the eye protection, but more to avoid having to make eye contact with the locals.

  10. You Are My Face and Side With The Seeds are the two I keep going back to right now.

Nothing really disappoints me, per se...it always takes about 6 months (or longer) for me to start digging the softer songs.
