  1. Does Jeff have an immense catalogue? I never really thought so. Try 30 years of dead tapes, Neil Young, Dylan, or Zappa. Jeff is manageable.. But watch out for that Tupelo stuff, you may get sidetracked into the Carter Family and then you're stuck with us blues and roots scouring folks for years.

  2. My favorite part about this song is that I switch between listening to the full studio album version and jeff's solo live sunken treasure version every couple of months, and everytime I do I'm completely blown away by what I'm missing in one or the other.

  3. Could someone let me know if there is anything in these previous 17 pages about weather or not my first act VW guitar will appreciate in value because of this?

I don't have anything new to add but, comon, don't lie, you discovered nick drake from that cabrio commercial too.

  4. Now you have totally lost me..... :lol You win...!!!!!

The only part of this statement that rings a bell is I know Creed is some sort of rock group I don't listen to..... :omg

Somehow I knew this was a discussion I shouldn't have gotten involved in.... :huh

Danielson is music group that's actually pretty good, nobody likes them because their pretty out there, kind of Cpt. Beefheart-esq in my opinion. I would put them in the Christian Music category because his music is very much topically about religion. And creed is just horrible.

But I think your point is a really good one. Why do you think something like Byrds singing 'I Am A Pilgrim' doesn't get the byrds trashed as religious band, but the cwk do, I don't think it's a simple as saying one is tounge-in-cheek and one is propaganda.

I mean, I am a pilgrim was certainly ment to be a gospel song in it's original forum. And personally, I love gospel songs and blues songs like Down By the Riverside or Oh Mary Don't you Weep, but can I perform them earnestly without being a Christian? I dunno, at least to me it feels like I can because the message I'm trying to give isn't in the literal words, but maybe I'm the hypocrite and the cwk are not.

And Gary Davis' I'll be all right some day on the 'A little more faith' album is the song that made me want to play guitar.

  5. Yea, I know....just something to talk about I suppose....

I guess the idea that contemporary Christian rock and Rev. Gary Davis play(ed) the same kind of music is just too creepy a thought to let it go.

Maybe the only difference between Creed fans and Danielson fans is one has heard a recording of davis doing 'I'll be allright someday'. Now THAT's creepy.

  6. Sufjan is pretty much in the same camp as CWk.... George Harrison was basically a Buddhist, but the Reverend Gary Davis was in totally different class along with all the greats who sang sanctified music such as Blind Willie Johnson up through Sister Rosetta Tharpe and any number of gospel singers both early and contemporary. I have no complaints with any of these acts, but they aren't all the same either in what they are performing (style of music) or how their religion impacts their music. cryptiques point about contemporary Christian music being inane is certainly true (the same as so much contemporary country sucks), but you can hardly put Sufjan Stevens and Gary Davis together musically simply because they both sing about Christianity.

The point wasn't about Chrisitanity. These three were examples of artists with a religious impetus who created music with inspiration from, rather than a prostlization about, the religion. Obviously there are several more examples, heck, even bach signed his peices in tribute to god even when they weren't about god.

  7. Not wilco, but has anyone seen tabs anywhere for songs off the new elliott smith New Moon album? The song "Whatever folk song in c" is beautiful, but I haven seen tabs for it on sweet adeline.

  8. If you are in chicago they have a bunch of blueridge guitars to try out at the different strummer store in the Old Town School of folk music. Just messing around in the store, I have found these guitars to be pretty solidly made for their price. I would compare them to a yamaha in quality, they are all made in china, but are nice instruments.

Also, I'd suggest to check out the Epiphone j-45 copy, I think it's called a AJ-500 or something, The coloring is different, but they have the 45's rounded shoulder, sounds nice. Epi's lately have been pretty sweet for that price range.

If you want to spend a little more, I have a larrivee d-03 that I love to death.

  9. Possible Spoiler for next season but:

    The Spolier

As far as parkman goes, all the bullets hit him where a bullet proof vests could be, so in theory it could be a case of the old "i forgot to tell you i was wearing a vest" situations.

OOh that would be cool. Do we really know all the old folks powers yet? What about grandma? I was guessing that kensai was a hero back in the day and his bloodline was related to hiros'.

Also, maybe I missed this, but what I don't get from the last episode was, wasn't hiro's dad working for linderman? Why did he want hero to stop the bomb if grandma and the other linderman folks were trying to get it to happen?

  10. Or Hiro could've carried him off somewhere remote and then skipped out before Peter went boom.

I'm guessing Peter is still alive and Nathan is toast. Maybe Sylar will start up a revolution of mutants in the sewers.

Hiro was in Fudal Japan at the time. I'm more interested in how the cop survives, he took 4 bullets in the chest magneto style and if he was alive then why was he in the abmbulance without an emt or breathing mask?

I did hear the walker girl talk about the worse vilan, maybe she means the hatian? Is he still alive? Or somebody new.

I guessed Nathan would possibly fly peter out of the atmosphere the first time we saw nathan's dream. Tho, I wasn't sure he wouldn't double cross him. Pete's dream powers are really interesting, he had a vision of the bomb and of talking to the dead patient guy, maybe that's a power he absorbed a long time ago or something.

I'd rather have seen sylar killed to make way for another supervillan, but at least they may explore the peter/sylar connection in the next season, I think their powers are too similar to be concidence (or not-concidence what with all the other relationships between the heroes)

All in all, the season wrapped up nicely, Glad they didn't leave an open arc like lost.

  11. Quimby's is on North (east of Damen). but if you're looking for a really good, full fledged comic book shop, you should go a few blocks down on North and check out Brainstorm

Is Brainstorm new? I was in there for the first time the other day, maybe I had just missied it up till now..
