  1. Just finished You and I. So far, Bull Black Nova and Deeper Down kill. One Wing is great too.. not wild about the vocal harmonies on the end instead of the duel guitar jam, but it's still great. I love how You and I is like one of those lame late 70's love duets.. except awesome

  2. fair enough. thought it was worth a try. hopefully it ends up on google blog search soon as i'm not a member of any torrent sites. if anyone does have it and is kind enough to send out 8000 emails, ebolton @ berklee .net is the place. please and thanks!

  3. AAAAND he just sent it to me in a zip file. Those of you who know how to get ahold of me, get ahold of me.

and mine is ebolton at berklee dot net if you would be so kind

  4. I'll Fight was played by the full band at the first Milwaukee show on April 14th.

You Never Know was played live by the 7 Worlds Collide ensemble in Auckland, but I don't really know who that included on stage. It was not acoustic, though.

Hmm, I was unaware I'll Fight was played full band. And I always assumed You Never Know was played acoustic until I just listened now and hear the electric guitar for the first time.

  5. If you're referring to me, kindly go fuck yourself. I've seen a number of people mention that they've got the album, but have yet to actually find the album. There are reasons to believe it may be out there at the moment, and I'm trying my damndest to find it.

EDIT: Not you OTM. Though I did drop a post there to see if anyone has heard anything.

Thank you kind sir. I'm sure if it's out there, it's only a matter of time before it ends up on a blog or a torrent site.

  6. Wilco (the song)

    Deeper Down- (Living Room Show)

    One Wing

You And I- (Jeff Tweedy show)

    You Never Know

    Country Disappeared

    Solitaire- (Jeff Tweedy show)

    I'll Fight

    Sonny Feeling

    Everlasting Everything- (Jeff Tweedy show)

It should be noted that You Never Know, Country Disappeared, and I'll Fight were full band acoustic. At this point, only Wilco (the Song), One Wing, and Sonny Feeling have been played as a full band in what we expect to be their album form

  7. I do think its sad that there's already 3 pages on a review that hasnt been written about an album we haven't heard, but I'll add to it anyway because I'm a hypocrite. Pitchfork does tend to focus a bit much on being hip and breaking the next big thing, but I still read it every day, have already picked up some great records on their suggestion this year (How would I have heard Japandroids?) and agree with around 75% of their reviews. I don't expect them to give this a good review as they completely missed the ball on Ghost and (somewhat) on SBS, but with the amount of influence they have over indie listeners, here's to hoping they focus on the music and give a (hopefully) great album its due.

  8. It says a lot that he is not opening the show with a new tune (like The Rising or Radio Nowhere) and only playing 3 or 4 new songs a night. He'd jam 6 or 7 Magic songs at us, whether they worked or not. Remember Devil's Arcade or Gypsy Biker?

I am really surprised as well. I was convinced that Good Eye would be awesome live.. like a modern-day Ramrod. I also would've expected him to open up the encores with The Last Carnival in the same way he did with City of Ruins on the Rising tour. At the very least, I'm pleased this isn't a rehash of the Magic tour. There are definitely distinctive sections of the set and their choice of openers and closers seem to be working really well

Oh, and Gypsy Biker rules. I didn't see it live, so I can't attest to its quality, or lack of in concert, but the record version is great.

  9. I found his comments on the use of music in movies really interesting. While I don't shy my love for Wes Anderson movies, he's got a point about how a song needs to support a scene, both lyrically and mood wise, and that it's more effective to have songs by one person. Using original songs by a certain artist is part of what made the music in Harold and Maude, Juno and Once so effective.

He definitely is an odd dude though.

  10. I've never heard them, but the cover of one of their songs on the recent Merge compilation is horrific, as is almost every other performance on there.

That puts me somewhere in between. This is one of those bands that I would like to believe is going to kick my ass in a glorious way when I finally do hear them, but I'm skeptical. I've been burned too many times (most recently with Built to Spill).

They sound nothing like that cover. The cover is a total synthed out pop-fest whereas NMH is more in the punk influenced folk category. If you cared enough to get the Merge compilation, you should at the very least get In the Aeroplane Over the Sea and give it a try. It's one of my all-time favorite records

  11. i heard "cough up the bucks" live, and everyone hated it.

neil young doesnt give a fuck what anyone thinks.

Yeah, when Wilco opened for him, his set was outstanding, but then he went through a 3 song run including Cough Up the Bucks, Fuel Line, and Hit the Road, and everyone in the crowd was so confused as to what happened. It was like a gift from God when he played Heart of Gold after it
