Hi Joe, I lived in Phoenix for a couple of years and know a few things about it... There's a pocket of art spaces and venues near downtown on Grand Avenue. You will find Trunk Space, Paisly Violin and Tiki Bar, among other places. Also, there are some great little restaurants/art spaces in the historic districts near 5th Ave and Fillmore, and 7th Street, North of downtown. Tempe still seemed to have a lot going on for it, too.
