The song is in D major and an A major scale has three sharps not flats. What they do with the Eb walk down to the A minor chord and then the almost chromatic walk down from the Dm to the Bb is genius. The transition from F major back to the D major in the bridge with the IV to V to I in the F major and then making the III a major (A major) using the C# note as the leading note back into the D and Em progression which carries the solo.

 

I agree that the song is beautiful and the arrangement of the song is pure genius but your theory is completely messed up.

Doesn't;

C# = Db, F# = Gb and G# = Ab ?

Although it is more normal to describe them as sharp. Either way nice song. Groan.

It's a great song, but it sounds just like a minor key melody of side with the seeds to me. It bodes well for the next album that this is only a bonus track.

I think What Light sounds great when you load up two instances of it (streaming from wilco web). At least with my computer you get a slapback type delay that sounds a little retro/psycidelic. I like it, anybody else done this?

Oh yeah I was in the monistary/institution at the time.

I made a compilation of all the up tempo Wilco songs you know, the easy rockers And noticed some similarities between Monday and Can't stand it. Very similar.

By the way don't make a compilation of all the Wilco uptempo easy rockers. It doesn't work. Wilco are the masters of sequencing albums.

To me there are a lot of van morrison influences and also some isley brothers but if this is rubber soul then next we can expect Help! becuase they have already done their sargent peppers/yankee hotel no?

I have analysed Wilcos music more than any other band I have listened to. I don't know why really maybe sometimes I am trying to figure if they are great or rubbish. At the moment I am listening to the stream from Wilco web and am certain that they are great. Great to hear your well spoken oppinion shippy
