  1. Lots of Love

Yeah, I guess I shouldn't have responded to your post. You feel better now? Okay good. Sorry I was so unreasonable in my statements. :ermm

In fact, that MSG show was 1-1/2 years ago and I never showed that clip it to anyone here UNTIL TODAY. So much for my "bragging" about this. I only brought it out to show Jeff being the "lead singer without a guitar" guy you were talking about. I love how he puts his foot up on the stage speaker like a rock star :lol

And to set the record straight, I'm a pretty nice person and my life doesn't revolve around Wilco, although Monday night was really special for me and my friends and we were lucky to get nice treatment from the band. Maybe I should not have shared that? I dunno.

(Thanks Thomas, I appreciate your kind words here. ;) )

No hard feelings, everything's groovy. :thumbup

mchchef1, welcome to the forum. :wave

  2. I noticed during hummingbird Jeff had no guitar? I can't ever remember him doing the "front man" thing?

I have never seen him sing without a guitar strapped on? Of course he pulled it off great! The little run in place thing he does.

I don't believe he has ever sang Hummingbird live WITH a guitar. Was this your first live Wilco show? He sang sans-guitar for a good deal of the post-midnight Madison Square Garden NYE extravaganza ... check out this rock star in his PJ's singing Judas Priest's "Livin After Midnight." :lol I took this from my seat next to the stage. :D

Edit: All Wilco material (not just my little fan-video) on youtube has been reported and removed by ??? So here's a still picture from that same event: :unsure

What is the deal with Pat and his antics on stage? The kind of gay run way model/little drummer boy dance? Not puttin him down just noticed he seems to coming WAY out of his shell?

Really? That's not a put down? Kind of sounds like one to me. But now I firmly believe you have never seen Wilco live before. The only thing that has changed in these guys is their hair, which by the way, look fabulous B) . The guys themselves have the same moves as always.

This show was really good, and the show itself was only part of the fun because we were lucky enough to get passes to go backstage (huge thanks to Jeff and Sue for making that happen for us :wub :wub ) and meet with the band after the show. Those band members in attendance were very gracious and talkative and it really meant a lot to us, as we've been fans a long time and rarely get a chance to thank them for "doing what they do" so to speak. Thank you, guys.

Oh, and "Spiders" was cool :blush I like it once again. Almost as much as acoustic "Spiders" :thumbup

Oh, and no, I did not see any tapers around us, but we were very close to the stage. I looked behind us but didn't see any obvious taping rigs.

I have to say, though - the sound in that theater was odd, at least where I was sitting (standing). There was this weird loud echo-like kick-back of Glenn's drums off the ceiling or balcony or something, and it was highly distracting. Glenn said he could not hear it, so that's a good thing. The balcony is so far back from the stage, I have to remember never to buy seats in the balcony if I can help it. We just need to get the band to play at The Bluebird next ;)

Thanks to my road trip buddies, you are the best! :worship Aaron, I'm so sorry you couldn't make this one, but there'll be more in the future, that much is certain. We missed you!

  3. You should've had a talk with Susan, Wendy, because apparently she talked with Kande about whether or not SHE was the oldest person there. Kande tried to insist that I'm older, but apparently Susan has seniority on me by a few months.

I would have loved to have had a talk with Susan, but she always was talking to someone. However, I was told later on, after she and Jeff left, that she was thinking she was the oldest at the show, but nope - I win. :w00t

I turned 50 this past October 18th (on the same day that I saw Paul McCartney in Chicago :wub )

PS: Great pix of the desert table - Brianne, your baklava was out of this world!

  4. I'm still in awe of this evening. I had never met Jeff before, so this was momentous for me.

I cannot thank enough Sooz and Sam for hosting this event, Mart, Dave, and Chandler for the rousing pre- and post-show entertainment (I had NO IDEA! they were so talented!) , and the rest of the crowd for their tasty food offerings and for welcoming us newbies into their group for this year's event. And to Jeff and Sue, the generous gift of your time and talents by making 3 events possible is the true gift to the Letters For Santa program by starting the ball rolling in the first place. Whoever came up with the idea to have 3 shows is brilliant.

Sitting cross-legged on the floor, having dogs and cats and babies mingling about on all fours, and surrounded by laughter and our favorite songs sung by Jeff himself -- pure bliss :blush . I really can't wipe the smile off my face. It became permanent when Jeff played his first song (and my personal #1 favorite) - Someday Some Morning Sometime and later my #2 favorite, Radio King which I was sooooo hoping he would play for you, Beltmann. My cell phone signal was so bad, 0-1 bars I swear, I was pretty sure you wouldn't get it at all, but yay for miracles! :)

My pictures did not come out so great, as my Sony DSC-T1 (although cute and tiny) clearly does not take great low-light pictures. Kris even helped me tweak the settings, but to no avail. So the only pictures that came out were those taken during daylight, or close-up flash people pictures.

And to Ms Yvon - you're such a superb concert buddy. :wub I'm only sorry our visit was so short this time, but certainly look forward to the next one. Hope you had a good flight home. And thanks to Allison for the overnight hospitality and trip to Laurie's Records on Sunday afternoon. See you soon, too, I hope!

And finally, thanks to Bill who kept telling me I didn't look a day older than 32. :lol Thanks, because in fact, I was the oldest person there. B)

  5. Thanks for the review :) The lips are fun to see. My first Lips show was so amazing and astounding. The second time was less amazing and astounding. Still good, but ... I think you can over-do just about anything.

Remphish, you go to a lot of shows. I used to get this amazing rush of excitement when I would walk into a venue and see the stage, with all the seats and lights etc ... :w00t

Now, maybe 100+ shows later, I just feel like this ... :)

So I'm scaling back, being more choosy because I would like this ... :w00t ... to return.

  6. ... Nels somehow hurt his finger between the end of the main set and the beginning of the first encore so he was also somewhat hampered during Airline.

:no that's not good. I hope he's okay. :upset

I remember being a bit worried about him when he fell last May at the Vic.

  7. :cheekkiss I hope you feel better soon. I'm sorry you're feeling crappy - I'm sure it's from all this trouble you're going through to get things working again for us all.

Thank you, Solace, for your dedication.

Please don't tell me you missed a concert for this. :blink
