Limerick, Ireland here. Got my August 27th tix for Vicar Street ready!
-
I can say with complete 100% honesty and certainty that I've never heard an MnM tune.
Am I missing anything?
Not really. The only song I heard that seemed alright was that song "Stan," and that was just him talking over someone else's song. Guess I just don't understand the kidz and their crazy crazy music....
-
Is that one on a secret 'adult' order page?
What a filthy filthy mind! Perhaps I should have used the term "tote?" Over here in Ireland a bag is a bag, no matter how poorly placed it is in relation to other words!
-
Just ordered mine now. Only saw the nonesuch deals up to now. Got the album-tee-bag dealie myself. Will us kungfu pre-ordering people be getting an MP3 on the day of release?
-
Really happy with this. Three listens in and loving everything. It seems to be a band relaxed and enjoying what they do. Def gonna pre-order from Wilcoworld once they get the deals up.
-
Got my ticket for the 27th during the week. Think I might try to swing the second one if I can get it by work.
-
Thanks Analog - will check that out.

Got my tickets for the Dublin gig yesterday and glad I'll have ample time to digest it before seeing them live again. Seeing them live after SBS made me see some of my least favourite songs in a different light.

The inner-ex-con-biker-dude in me really likes that song.
Best reply ever!
-
'Leave Me Like You Found Me' is on repeat in the eleventh circle.
For shame! The inner-softie in me really likes that song!!!
-
Hey Owl. Just wondering if you're gonna have any of the Jeff Tweedy 2009 shows online anytime soon? As far as I remember they happened sometime in March.

Maybe I'm on my own here but the thing that makes Wilco a special band for me is how each album fells like such a huge change/progression from the last, and also how cohesive it sounds within itself. Wilco is very much a band that creates albums, something which it seems is becoming rarer and rarer, rather than the standard "stick the singles at the start and the crap at the end" method that many other bands prefer. Each album stands apart and really only makes sense in it's own context. There's no way I could listen to them on random, tried it once and found it very jarring. Judging from what I've seen on the new DVD Wilco are currently a band very at ease with each other who are really enjoying what they're doing, so I'm pretty confident that this will translate to the new album.
-
haven't watched the DVD yet but yeah listened to these songs and they are really fantastic!
Looks like those of us in europe aren't gonna be able to get that show. The DVD seems to have been delayed until next Monday. By the time my pre-order ships and arrives the deadline will be well gone. Surely they could keep it up for a month at the least?
-
Judging by usual delivery times mine won't arrive until the start of May. Does this mean I won't get the extra download? Sucks for those of us in the EU who are getting it released later and who pre-ordered it.
-
Christ almighty! Get over yourselves about formats!
It will be available in DVD (and hopefully for those who are early tech adopters it will also be in Blu-Ray). This isn't a forum for discussing the Blu-Ray format it's about Wilco's music. I just had to read through 7 pages looking for info about the new DVD and learning nothing from any post following the first one.
Maybe this discussion could be moved to the off-topic section of the board? Maybe then people might talk about the new DVD.
Personally I haven't found confirmation of a Region 2 release anywhere I've looked on the web. Has anyone else? Does anyone know about track-listing, features, whether it's a 5.1 or a 2.1 mix?
-
It's a pity if you issed the Wilco show - now that gig would have been value at twice the price!
-
Maybe, but Ireland is getting cleaned out of it with ticket prices for many gigs, not just Wilco.
Many bands have a whole European tour and keep generally around the same price but when they play Ireland it goes up.
The Wilco gigs were def not the worst in terms of this, they are a great established band and played an intimate venue. But many gigs are bands with 1 album and are def not worth the asking price.
Then don't go. Use your head man!
We are an island with a relatively small population and as such the overheads for getting here are that bit above the norm. There have also been a number of issues with MCD and Aiken over the past number of years which leads many to believe that they are screwing us in terms of ticket prices. Just don't start me on how Ticketmaster screws us...

Need... torrent.... NOW!!!!!!

Well, whether they're mp3s or flacs I wouldn't mind getting my hands on a copy....
