  1. (did Keylime very fittingly help him out with that?)

    Yup! :)

Such a fun night, despite my exhaustion. I finally got to hear Dreamer in my Dreams after yeeeeeeears of waiting. Definitely less hecklers tonight, which was great. I also really liked the new song a lot. It seemed lyrically dense (in a good way) and the melody was real pretty. I'm so excited about this new stuff, it's more folky/gospelly, but like Kalle said, I'm not sure how it'll sound with a full band. We'll have to wait and see!

It was nice seeing everyone! What a pleasant way to end a decade long drought of Jeff shows in this city.

  2. Just a few thoughts...

-Chinese Apple literally made me stop breathing.

    -New song sounded sweet.

-To the dude behind me who thought he was having a private convo with Jeff the whole night...for the love of god, why?

All in all, fun night, as usual. Does Jeff not use his Breedlove anymore? I don't think I saw it last night, unless I'm mistaken...

  3. What, you haven't heard about The Great Fusion? Oh wait, I've said too much. . . . Well, until it's officially announced, I went ahead and gave Canada its own category--I just added Asia to Australia and New Zealand. (No, you don't want me as your Trivial Pursuit teammate in Geography.)

Haha trust me, it often feels like I already live in your country. Thanks for adding Canada!

  4. I have gone many months without Facebook, because I've never had it. I assure you, it is humanly possible to not have Facebook.

Also, everytime I tell people I don't have it, I either get "Are you crazy?!" or, most often, "You're so lucky, good for you, etc." People make it sound like they have no choice but to have it- is it an addiction or something?

  5. You and me both, brother. I was so happy that it was the number one request... only to be disappointed that it wasn't played. Disappointed sounds so harsh though... we got a wonderful show at DPAC!

It's true, it was a great show! We were just excited, is all. It's actually the second time this year its happened to me- I requested Blue Eyed Soul for the London show in February, and they soundchecked it but didn't play it until a few nights later in Ottawa. However, they played Someday Soon for me that night. So these are all grumblings of someone whose been spoiled rotten. I'm just trying to make up for not being able to attend the Residency shows...one rarity, one show at a time.

  6. Dang! I briefly considered going to the NYC show, but I looked at bus fares and I don't think I can pull it off in July. I hope they play Toronto at some point. Or perhaps I will come across a large sum of money. The funny thing is, my current money situation is Wilco's fault.

  7. Like someone said earlier, if people weren't being idiots then he wouldn't have a reason to call them out. I honestly feel bad for the guy, it seems he attracts some of the most moronic people on the planet. I rarely see people at other shows who act as dumb as they do at Wilco shows. Thankfully, he also attracts some of the greatest people too :)

Also, someone mentioned an American mindset- it's not just America. We've had some real characters at Canadian shows as well. How are the crowds in other countries, like places in Europe?

  8. :lol I would love to see these. Makes me want to go even more. I agree, Sammy's froggy poster was so cute.

I'm sure this isn't how it went down, but picturing Jeff sitting in front of a class while children draw him is surreal.

  9. A colleague and I just had this exact same conversation. Suddenly Chicago doesn't seem so far away from Vancouver. I can't believe I just checked out flights. Not that it would even be remotely possible to attend...

Don't judge me, but I flew down for this one year. It was worth it. Forget all commitments and go! I'm an enabler.

  10. So I called Front Gate and almost had a heart attack when the guy told me that my order was "Declined" then he said "wait no that's not right...ok I see it now." :mellow

He said to expect them before the show.

    NO SHIT.

:lol This is too funny. I used to work for Ticketmaster, and whenever I called head office for help, I would get similar responses, except multiply the incompetence by 50. I feel like I knew more BEFORE I called.

  11. Also, sometimes homemade bread has a "drier" texture than perpetually moist packaged bread, like Wonder bread or something. You know what I mean? Homemade bread goes dry pretty quickly.

I want to join their team and provide some baked goods. Pecan Pie, Chinese Apple Pie, Muzzle of Bees honeycake...

  12. So I finally went, and its pretty cool. The Via Chicago is delicious, and the prices are pretty reasonable. It's kind of a trip to be eating under a Wilco poster of a show that I've attended while hearing people say "Let me try a Dreamer in my Dreams" or "I'll have a Wishful Thinking". They bake their own bread! And make their own pickles!!! I got to talk with Chad and he's super nice. The space itself is really comfortable and open. Also, good music! I will definitely go back regularly for studying purposes. All y'all should come on up to Toronto and we can take over the place.

  13. Late posting, but this show was awesome in almost every way. The setlist was spectacular, and seeing What's the World, When the Roses Bloom again AND Poor>Reservations>Spiders was almost too much for me to handle. The crowd seemed to be in good spirits, too. The venue was kind of funny, and reminded me of the 70s concrete architecture at my school (University of Toronto). Also, Jeff getting back up onstage during Jesus reminded me of Tobias rolling onto the gym stage to direct the school play in Arrested Development. It looked pretty pathetic haha. Anyway, good times! Thanks Wilco and Califone for being heavenly.
