  1. bah! yer just a grumpy old man.

actually, that is not far from the truth. i do like it quite a bit, but i guess with each release since yhf i am expecting something that just isnt there - this is my own problem. i have set unreal expectations which is unfair, but still it is a cross i must bear.

  2. i saw cap n jazz at the, now closed, fireside in chicago many moons ago and it was pretty righteous. i still pull out their record now and again if i am in that kinda mood. most of the time i just may listen to little league, which is classic.

  3. i am enjoying it more than i did on my first few listens, but there is just something off and i definitely think it has to do with the flow. as much as i like the harpsichord in "one for the cutters" it just sounds really odd coming out of "sequestered." still going to play with the tracklisting.

  4. Probably could be a fat guy if he wasn't a rock star. That said, I'd like to see a few songs about something other than drug/alcohol imbibement this go around. He is a great lyricist but a bit too singularly focused for me thus far.

so very true. he's got normal beer loving guy syndrome, or maybe i just do. if he werent playing everying other night and such he definitely would have a few more lb's on him. i do love the song 'stay positive' it makes me not feel so old...

  5. i actually like one for the cutters, although the harpsichord is a wee bit off but love the line "if i townie falls in the woods does it make a sound." all in all, and this is after only a few listens, i would have to say this is their weakest thus far. still dig it, mind you, but like kyle said its not as anthemic which is really their bread and butter. i'm sure it will grow on me. i hope.

  6. no regrets?

    no regrets, brother.

exile is indeed one of the finest records every put to tape. i got it all the way back in 93 and its been with me ever since. what started off as a record that was every 19 year old guys wet dream has transformed into a record that is every 33 year olds semi reality. if that makes any sense. i know it does in my head.
