  1. From a production standpoint, it's simply a way to add a little variety to a recording. If ever song ends on a hold-out chord or one sudden, final strum, they're all going to sound the same at the end. Some songs are meant to sound drawn-out and longwinded, and that's where fading out comes in.

  4. Re: East Lansing show, I have a recording of the show that my roommate got from a torrent website. I'm sure that if there was a taper in Detroit, it'll show up there. I'll ask him for the name when he gets out of class.
  5. Someone mentioned Via Chicago being exceptionally emotional, and I agree. It sounded like Jeff was getting homesick, and he really played his heart out on that song. Gotta love it.
  6. Registered just to say what an amazing show this was, front to back. Highlights: From Andrew Bird's set, Plasticities, Scythian Empires, and "What should I play next? Opposite Day? Well then Opposite Day it is." From Wilco's jawdropping set: Pot Kettle Black, Walken, In A Future Age (and for that matter, everything they did with Andrew Bird really sparkled), THE ENTIRE SECOND ENCORE. I almost couldn't contain myself when Jeff broke into Casino Queen. I never thought I'd get to hear that live. It was a very complete show. That's the only way I can describe it.
