  1. The waiting is the hardest part...but isn't it really the best? Think Christmas. I don't care how good or bad the album is. It is still a wilco album and it contains what light. Thats all I need.

technically you have already waited. 3 years. So it's o.k. to open your presents now.

  2. You also said:

"I mean worse is a harsh term (for Sky Blue Sky). Like i said it's a good album.

All of these albums (Wilco's albums) are pretty close to one another and could easily be swapped out in order based on mood."

I know your "Eddie's Father" comment was meant to be funny, but nothing about that theme song would I classify as "good".

I think you're really wanting to say Sky Blue Sky sucks...yes?

No in a way I kind of mean it does sound/feel like Courtship. But as "silly" as that song is..I like it. That song has a kind of movement and vibe of the times. A kind of late 1970's bubblegum soulful groove.

Kind of like BSB, the overall feeling...fun, lovely, but not meaningful.

  3. The way I look it, is that Wilco hasn't made a "bad" or mediocre album yet and from the songs I've seen live and the ones I've heard, SBS will be different like every album has been but by no means is it going to suck.

    it does not suck.

  4. so you are saying it's almost the worst wilco album ever

i find that hard to believe. the live mp3s are too good.

i mean worse is a harsh term. like i said it's a good album

all of these albums are pretty close to one another and could easily be swaped out in order based on mood.

  5. Two questions for you Chicago.

Is You Are My Face Let's Not Get Carried Away?

    no

Second, where does this record fall in order of how good it is in regards to other Wilco records? Better than AGID? A good follow up? The worse one yet? Medicore?

having only heard it a handful of times..it's hard to rate it now. But first reaction is I will put it second to last.

i am sure everyone has a different order..so not sure this helps

  6. Is this supposed to make us think you've heard it? I've been telling friends Sky Blue Sky will sound like this....and I haven't heard it.

Does the title track sound simple and bare or more loud and all-band sounding?---very stripped down.guitar, simple drums. vocals out in front. really lovely.

Does Either Way have the same beautiful Nels guitar flourish as they played live? yes.

Is "You Are My Face" the same song as "Let's Not Carried Away"? no

Does Impossible Germany have the guitar-jam-rock in the middle of verses or at end of the song? starts in teh middle and lasts until end.

Which is more rockin', Hate it Here or Leave Me? leave me

I'm not wanting you to spoil the album for all of us, but c'mon...give us something to at least consider that you aren't pulling our legs.

  7. does either way sound the same as the live mp3 versions? i don't really seeing that as being a great opener if that's the case, but i'm almost positive wilco would have changed the beginning of the song if they decided to make that the number 1 track

not sure what the mp3 version is like..this definately sets the mood/tone of the album

  8. fair enough.

did what jeff say about interweaving guitarlines remincisent of television via him and nels come to fruition?

thank you for taking the time to answer these...

not sure i understand..does the guitar work sound like the band television?

  9. was jeff's assement on sky blue sky being similliar to being there accurate?

It's hard to compare it to any other album, because it's different. But no it's not like Being There. BT is louder, more twangy and has the sweet harmonizing.

  10. Tell us about one specific thing you heard on the record that can prove you've heard it....the way a specific song begins or ends....a line of lyric from one of the yet-to-be-heard songs....a guitar, piano or drum freak-out that impressed you. Something.

    I think you're B.S.-ing us.

I am not here to convince you i have heard it. That would be impossible. I can tell you about something on a particular track..but since you haven't heard it...what good what that do?

  11. Not that it matters to his credibility - but if you go look at "chicago's" older posts they are all nothing but setlist bitching and 'oh i wish wilco were more like ____ " type stuff, so whether or not he has heard the disc, i'm not taking his opinion as particularly objective.

You may also note that I love Wilco. And I love every album. (not a.m. I don't love a.m.)

And you can note that with all of my setlist bitching I am talking about their setlists, not their music.

  12. personally in my opinion wilco should be playing whatever they want, but I understand that they have not yet hit peak popularity, and to attract a wider audience of fans it might be smarter for them to keep playing the same old hits so they suck in more fans. And then the old fans get to hear the new songs, so in a way everybody wins

but yea, I would love it if they shook up their setlists a lot

wilco does not have hits that is my point. they should mix it up more because they didn't win people over with the hits, but rather with solid performance and great songs

  13. i know there are other bands to see. I see tons of live music that is why i am making this point.

As far as being lucky to see wilco...umm they have been around for a decade and ticket prices are always really cheap..so it's not luck.

I am not the kind of person who says...yeah i should be happy with it...suck it up.

I like a challenge. Tweedy even says in the Q article, Wilco doesn't make or do anything mainstream...so why start doint it with your show. Someone said they have to keep in mind some people have never seen wilco before. That is fine, but these people haven't become fans of wilco because they are selling out making bland music and getting on the radio. They are pushing the limits all the time and people follow ...why ..because it is good and you can tell it is from the heart. I just don't want to have to be counting how many time he says nothing during misunderstood. That is a perfect example of a "staged safe show" Years of this take the danger and angst out of it. I want rocknroll chaos not staged theatrics

  14. it's weird...while i love the current lineup of wilco i also think the tension in the songs and perfomance has become a bit safe, too smooth, and predictable. I want a rocknroll show that could explode at an moment. I know some people think I am crazy, but

I guess this is what happens when you follow a band for such a long time and see too many shows.

    hehe.
