Definately. I don't know why he feels he should wear that silly hat a lot though, or he wears a terrible baseball hat - I want to watch his hands, but am always drawn to the top of his head.
A few more guitar players of note:
I saw him play solo a couple of years ago, and also with Pete Zorn and Danny Thompson. No one believed there wasn't a stereo behind him (when he played solo). I maintain that he's the most sensual guitar player I've ever seen. I think the beret is a nice touch. Plus he's got a great sense of humor ("My Daddy is a Mummy"?) hey - just saw you put up a link to Townes..."To Live Is To Fly" is probably the best song ever written!

I know it's a "pop" album (as close a the Butthole Surfers can get to pop) - but Electriclarryland is one of my top 10 albums of all time...what would you recommend?

thanks for the link. it made me cry
Are you being facetious?

I think so.
ha hah 1997 or so - I saw him on this tour. Feelings, right? He's so awesome, I think he changed clothes 5 times during that show. Have you read his "journal"? Very interesting.

Exactly what I hoped for when I started this thread. David Byrne is pretty awesome!
Is this from True Stories?

haha...you must be 27 or 28? Hammer was the guy you would go to the bowling alley to see in Stockton 4 years ago!

Roy Orbison had died by the time they made the video. That's what the empty rocking chair represents during his parts...
Good stuff.
Wow. Didn't know that. Thanks.

Sad, I'm the only one in here...but I grew up with these videos, and I'm rediscovering them on youtube
Was Orbison in the band when they did this video? I see Bob, but don't hear him...and I hear Roy Orbison, but don't see him. It seems that Jeff Lynne is mouthing his parts. Does anyone know about this?

Oh, I've been meaning to read that one for years, but still haven't picked it up! I really wish that I hadn't just this second come back from the book store.
It's a great book, but if you do read it, set aside at least a couple of weeks for it. I'm a fairly quick reader, but this book is a real commitment. It's totally worth it though.

Amazing! This is the third time I've read it, and it just gets more interesting every time.

Wharf to Wharf
Not a great picture...but they have 15,000 runners this year, and 50 bands playing along the way. Should be fun!

Technically not a rock star (though he did play a character based on Iggy Pop), but he meets the cute & wet requirement

Manhattan Murder Mystery is one of my favs, but I love Woody Allen.
Mine too. I like that one even better than Annie Hall or Manhattan. This new looks alot like Manhattan Murder Mystery, so it might be good and it might suck. Either way, I'll see it just because Ian McShane's in it.

I can't believe he's not doing any Northern California shows, considering he lives here and all. Congrats to all those who got tickets though, you're in for a great show. I was lucky enough to catch him in '99 and it was THE best show I've ever been to.
John W - there was no opening act when I saw him. Don't know about now though.
