    A Cherry Ghost
  1. SBS might be the most underrated album in their catalog. For me, it's got an underlying Let it Be vibe, the guitar breaks, the vibe, it's the perfect Sunday morning album.
  2. Gotta go, probably put some Faces on later tonight, a band that TRULY influenced quite a few bands.
  3. Dashboard Confessional has sold over 500,000 records. It's not that big a deal.
  4. The question was, is Wilco a secret? When most people under 30 dont know who they are, that is an issue. Rock n roll is a young man's sport, like it or not (and I'm not trying to sound sexist, but...well, it is). And let's face it, if Wilco did tap into that demographic, they would be know by most, if not all of America.
  5. Wilco is a secret. Ask the 18-34 demographic about Wilco. What is the average age at a Wilco show? 35? 40? Most of America couldn't name two Wilco songs, that's sad and pathetic, but true. Sorry, this needs to be balanced out. shit, I should balance out this post. Love the direction Wilco is going, thought they were phenomenal this tour, actually have grown fonder of them (does that sound right?) since YFH. So..there. balance.
  6. he is not a pre-meditated kind of guy. He is just straight out crazy, he could care less about the publicity. It comes with the territory, so he likes to date Mandy Moore or go to Fashion week, that's his right. And for all the unedited crap he might release, there are some gems. His blog is just an experiment, not a PR tool.
  7. Solid song-writers, do you work at a small, independent record store? If Adams is not special, why is there a thread every month? Have you ever thought about that?
  8. Please re-read my posts, I have never "ranted" about Ryan Adams. I believe I asked you a fair question. What league is he in?
  9. Oh, I like it here. This thread was very entertaining. Is there a Wilco vs. The Beatles debate somewhere?
  10. Jacksonville City Nights is his best release, then Cold Roses. This proves you obviously have no clue about Adams. Oh, Tweedy's league? May I ask who else is in this "league"?
  11. Seriously, not angry at all. But I believe I bring a different, well, a perspective that doesn't involve drinking the Wilco Kool-aid. What made me register was the Dylan comment and then the "influence many modern bands" comment. Wilco is still a secret to most of America, and that's ok, but let's not put them too high on the pedestal just yet.
  12. Please, they are not major trend setters. "Many modern bands" was the quote, your response was a skeleton crew of artists, although you get points for the National. Once again, great band, I like them quite a bit, but the environment here obviously makes them more than what they truly are.
  13. first off, I don't like scrolling, I have message board ADD. My point, and it was directed at the Dylan post, Wilco does not have much influence over "modern" bands and the like. That's all, sound alike or anything else. Do some bands or artists "like" Wilco? Sure, but I don't see an overwhelming movement. An opening bands statement shouldn't be taken too seriously, I mean, come on, they are not going to bite the hand that feeds them.
  14. So, they created a business model? What they did took balls and savvy, bonus points for them. But, Dylan actually made artists and possibly a few generations emulate him. Your post mentioned influence and I thought artistically, not economics. Name one band artistically. Wilco is not that much of a trend setter, don't get me wrong, I like them quite a bit, but Dylan? Even Tweedy would laugh at that comparison. Dylan may be one of the most important artists of the last century, Wilco is a great band, not as good as you think they are, but definitely underrated by most of this country.
