  1. I'm not a big fan of cut-and-paste concert DVDs. I'd much prefer an entire concert, from start to finish (blemishes and all).

We'll see how this one turns out though.

  2. They just mentioned something about this happening again on XRT, and to stay tuned to the Wilco webs for details?? :boff :rock

    Anybody else hear anything?

Well, considering how late they are in announcing it, it's good news for those of us hoping that they do it in warmer months.

  3. One question for you all, just so I understand....

So, does everyone get a seat for these shows, even though it is "GA?"

It's GA seated. Think of it like the bleachers at Wrigley -- seats are first come, first served (although they may sell a few more tickets than they have seats (people stand in the back bar area) which may not guarantee you a seat). In the past two years though, that didn't seem to be a problem. I've actually sat in the same seat for both years.

  4. Yeah, I dropped $140 on a bunch of songs that I already heard (Ten Super Deluxe), so you can say I'm a fan.

By the way, my 10-month-old's favorite toy is a tamborine that I got a PJ show. My wife thinks it's got a mix of Vedder sweat and cocaine on it and that we're harming our son.

    That is all.

  5. I think he still has all the privledges and powers of the office as long as he is Guv regardless of the indictment. That is why I would expect an impeachment fairly quickly, there are already calls otu there to begin proceedings. I would also expect any impeachment to be fairly quick and bi-partisan, i'd bet they could be done with it before the weeklend if they put their minds to it. The only thing that could hold it up would be if impeachment is procedurally cumbersome.

You mean like Emil Jones refusing to call a vote in the Senate like he did with the recall measure to get his pay raise?

  6. I'd say Might Joe Moon, or maybe Fuzzy.

Jubilee is also good, but I'm not sure I'd start with it. Copperopolis is probably their weakest.

I think Copperopolis is their second-best album (although Paul Kimball didn't do a great job with the production). Arousing Thunder, Crackdown, The Bridge, Armchair, and Bethlehem Steel are fantastic.

If I had to rank the GLB albums, they would be:

    1. Mighty Joe Moon

    2. Copperopolis

    3. Fuzzy

    4. Jubilee

I'm not particularly fond of Grant Lee Phillips' recent solo work, but I admit that Mobilize is a great album.

  7. I can't wait to pick this up -- there are so many subtleties on the Murmur album that are hidden by the previous production.

And as I've said before in the other REM thread, New Adventures is by far the most-underrated REM album in the catalogue. It's easily top 5 (in no order: Murmur, New Adventures, Lifes Rich Pageant, Document, and Automatic).

  8. Probably doubtful again. Last I heard Jim was still busy w/ film stuff in Japan and oh so slowly finishing off some new solo ideas. I suppose that doesn't take it completely out of the realm of possibility.

I would gladly wait at least another year for the next album if it meant that Jim O'Rourke was involved.

  9. Uh oh..now you will incur the wrath of the people who hate seated shows. Frankly not spending the remaining few minutes of my life freezing on the streets of Uptown, however romantic that seems now in the warmth of the Chicago summer and sitting in my home away from the screaming bums of Uptown, will be fine with me.

    LouieB

I thought about that as soon as I hit "reply." Now that I have a kid with whom I'll surely want to play sports, I value my extremities more than last February.
