  1. I usually play it on standard tuning as well. I'll have to try open G cuz that A shape can cramp my fingers after a while...

For the ENDING riff, the previous poster is right. Hammer on 1234 while in between picking the strings (sometimes I go 2345 instead). I pick the G string personally. For the intro, to my ear, I hammer on 2324 with the pick of the G in between, but that 's just what I hear.

Glad I'm not the only one playing this. I love to play this song, and my wife looks at me crooked because I play it so much. Such a great sound to it...

  2. 2/18/08. Chicago Residency night #3. Opens up with Blue-Eyed Soul, Remember the Mountain Bed, Bob Dylan's 49th Beard and Hesitating Beauty. Good show.

Also, 10/4/06 at Purdue's Elliott Hall. That's more for nostalgia...because we road tripped there. It was 3 days after Jeff's mom had passed...there was talk of the show being cancelled. Very sad, but pretty good show all things considered.

And...Last weekend's Solo show at Foelinger at Urbana, because I was there and it was the best I've seen him solo.

  3. Has anyone ever participated in this class?

They're on hiatus now, but it is looking like it MAY be offered again in the not-too-distant future.

I'd really like to join if they do, but was curious about the overall dynamics of the class. I've been playing only for a few years, I can hold my own on the acoustic, but I am by no means a virtuoso. What is it like?...and are mid-thirties fat guys allowed? :)

  4. I may be alone here, but I was thrilled to no end that he played Wait Up! Seen a gaggle of shows and never caught that one. In fact, no spam, I was the long-clapper that he reference as the "Old-Timer" (which I am none the less)...good for me!!!!!!!!!! Such a great song, and the over-all set list couldn't have been better for my tastes.

Jeff seemed to be having a good time on stage and his guitar playing was very sharp. I noticed it during the spiced-up version of Muzzle...seemed to have added a little panache.

Our group went all the way to the Blind Pig as well, the overall beverage options looked delicious, but opted for other venues...see prior "Old-Timer" reference.

  5. I know it is a lot to ask, but does anybody have the Acuff-Rose solo from the Sunken Treasure DVD tabbed. I've been trying to figure it out from watching the video, but it is still not quite right. It would be much appreciated!

  6. Thanks for the quick reply, but I'm more looking for the Sunken Treasure DVD version. I've been working on it myself, and the riff is all based around an open Am chord shape, but I can't get the right sound on the lower end. I can't figure out if that is a Drop D, or that old Martin is just pumping out the bass. If anybody has played it and can give me any directions, it would be great. Thanks!
