I think Yankee ranks with the best of R.E.M... Overall R.E.M. hit their peak in the mid to late 80's with document & life rich pagent... Wilco hit their's with Yankee, Summerteeth & ghost.
So I would go
Life Rich Pagent
Reckoning
Yankee
Mumor
Summerteeth
Document
New Adventures
Ghost
Green
Fables

trying for both philly shows on Wednesday Can't wait new wilco shows & albums plus new PJ shows & albums all in the same year
-
the havent really played a lot of the new stuff at shows yet.. one wing, wilco, BBN & you never know pretty much at every show with deeper down & sonny feeling being rotated. I would love more of everlasting also I love that track.
-
I always thought Pearl Jam were the best live band in America but last night almost swayed me to believe wilco are.. It was the 3rd time I had seen them and by far the ebst show. Misunderstood (I requested it) into Spiders melted my face off!!!! I was right up the front centre second row and have some great shot for once Tweedy was at his witty best with the celery crowd and the wilcoton comment which was not funny but I laughed nonetheless.
I didn't expect I can't stand it, box of letters or I'm always in love so that was a nice surprise. Loved Muzzle of bees so early in the set first time I have heard that one live. Anyway I could write about it all day but should stop. I need more live wilco now!
Conor was great but yeah he looked out of it which actually made for a great show They are better than Bright Eyes in my opinion....

does anyone know what time the curfew is for this show?? I hope there isn't one like the wolf trapp.
-
my wife & I will be attending we have seen wilco 2 times previous and can't wait
-
I will add my 2 cents now about the album. I have had it on pretty much all day now.
It's a hard album to review as it's SBS meets Summerteeth but more layered. It's a beautiful album full of surprises. I can't get enough of this record and love every minute of it. Normally after the 6 or 7th album bands go down hill but to me this is as strong as most of their older albums. So many catchy tunes and just can't wait to hear them live this summer I like SBS but this kicks its ass and than some!

is there a copy out there that isn't a .rar file? I can't convert on my computer... thanks.
-
OMG you're so cool!!
thanks I am cool
-
I would say you are wrong, but your tastes probably just differ from mine. It's the best undercard of any fest aside from Roo this year, in my opinion.
well not just pearl jam I mean I was being somewhat sarcastic... I don't just like big popular bands like PJ.
I would also see sonic youth, Andrew Bird, Dan Auerbach and ofocurse the dead weather.. Not bad but I've seen better.
-
apart from Pearl Jam it isn't a very good lineup let's be honest.
-
ummm it looks like the new album name has been announced...it's all over pitchfork and rollingstone.com
www.pitchforkmedia.com
WILCO (THE ALBUM) !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
edit: ok i was a bit late on this one
I'm not sure what to make of the name to be honest.. very simple.

Regular sale started this morning via the box offfice at The Grand, where they played last year (1-800-37grand). I called this a.m. and was on hold for a while but I got my ticket for $37 including fees. FrontGate was going to cost $50.
When you call you have the option for GA Field or GA Stands.
The stadium will hold 13k for this show (which is why tickets are still available on FrontGate). Here's some views of how they set it up for concerts...
cheers for that I was wondering how it was worked out for a concert. Going to try to get there relatively early to get to the first few rows.
-
That's ridiculous.
You wouldn't consider a MMJ show in 2009 a double bill?? MMJ did play MSG last year remember.
-
thanks. and i don't mean to pester, i'm not really looking for a concrete answer, i was just hoping maybe someone had been to both venues and could give some insight on the atmosphere of the two venues. also, given my circumstanses that delaware is closer, and that new york, no matter how close, can be a major pain for traveling, which would be the better trip? ya know, maybe new york is worth the pain because the venue is so great. maybe the sound is incredible at delaware and not so much in new york. i don't know, i'm looking for stuff like that. obviously i'm not asking which show is gonna have the better set, no one could know that right now.
the thing is not too many bands have played at the Wilmington venue and I certainly haven't see a band there. So no one knows. I think live played there a few years back but I'm not going next door to see Live play
-
let me add to this....this will be my first wilco show. i'm trying to get the best experience. will one of those venues give a better option over the other?.....i'm sure all of you think i should just go to both, but i'm tryin to chill on the concerts this year. i've spent the past three years touring with pearl jam, my morning jacket, and hitting up multiple festivals. it's getting out of hand, and i'm trying to conserve a little more money this summer.
tell me about it.. last year I saw PJ 4 times, R.E.M. and Neil Young all in the noth-east USA and I lived in Australia than. This year I'm trying to do the same so only an Eddie Vedder solo show in Philly, maybe PJ (if they play in the philly area) and ofocurse wilco in Wilmington. If you just wanted to go to one I would say the closest show to you which is the Delaware show.
-
me either!
i guess thats just the misconception coming from an Australian who has moved to the north-east. My bad.
-
my morning jacket (imo)
but i enjoy bright eyes and hope to make one of those shows.
well of course I'm a huge MMJ fan and now it would be considered a double bill with MMJ almost as the headliner. Anyway I'm still going to enjoy the mystic river band they are a good pairing me thinks. Okkervil River would have been another good choice but like oberst they aren't everyone's cup of tea.
-
been a long time bright eyes fans and conor's new band... wide awake, it's morning is one of the better records I have ever heard but casadaga isn't anywhere near as good. Haven't got the really early Bright Eyes stuff but will get it eventually. Looking forward to the new record and the tour with wilco
-
My wife had told me to take a little road trip and go see Wilco last night. From the sound of the crowd I'm glad I didn't make the drive from Texas. At least I have OKC to look forward to in June.
yeah me too.. glad I'm going to what promises to be a better crowd... Wilmington! And the south wonder why they don't get a lot of concerts! Normally because of bad ticket sales but c'mon the crowd sounded ridiculous.
-
Enjoying Conor Oberst on my terms will involve a nap and earplugs.
who would you prefer opening for wilco?? I mean he fits the bill perfectly for a wilco opener... he has sorta the same style (in the ball park anyway), he has that neil young thing about him and he is as good of a song wrtier as tweedy is. I would have though this was a perfect match for a wilco concert.
Who has opened for wilco in the past that has been better?
-
i know Pearl Jam played 2 nights at the borgata in Atlantic City, NJ in 2005 but than they announced a third showin philly because of the demand.. I have more issues with the fact that corgan is an embarrasment in the year 2009.
-
I was at this show with my now wife It was our first Wilco show and now we're going to the Delaware show in a couple months together
-
Oh good, I won't be going to any of those shows.
well personally speaking I loved this news.. saw bright eyes open for R.E.M. a few year back... I love conor oberst and his new band. Bring it on.
