  1. any idea if there will be balcony-only pricing like last year or if all tickets will be one price?

Every year they have had tiered ticket pricing.

Sue will give us all the info once it's ready. Just be patient folks.

  2. So I made a compilation of Tweedy material a while back and wanted some artwork for my iTunes. I took a stab at photoshop and made the following:

Every time I listen to the mix and the artwork is up, I laugh. Figured I'd share. Happy Memorial Day Weekend everyone :cheers

  3. A lot of people in the Wilco Ensemble also participate from time to time in the Grateful Dead Ensemble at the Old Town School. We picked this song because it segues directly from "Ripple" on the American Beauty album (and also because it has pedal steel, and is just generally an incredibly beautiful song). The instructor from the G.D. Ensemble (who is good friends with the Tweedys) was there and did the lead vocal, but Jeff sang harmonies and handled all the chord changes. He was clearly familiar with the song.

Jeff said that "Grateful Dead fans are the reason why Wilco fills stadiums." He also said that Bob Weir is "the biggest Wilco fan." Apparently, the two keep in touch regularly.

Great info, thanks! I need to do some research on the Old Town School. I live right near there and might be something cool to get involved in.

I must be honest and say I was a bit disappointed to hear Jeff wasn't on lead vocal but oh well. I'm sure it was beautiful. That song has a lot on meaning for me on many levels. It's a song I want to be played at my funeral (morbid, sorry). Thanks again for the info.

  4. anybody have any idea what bitrate the roadcase streams run at? i'm converting the tracks to mp3 before uploading them and didn't know how low i could go without losing any sound integrity. 192k, maybe?

Any luck on this locke? Some of the charity downloads from Wilco have been at 192k.

  5. finally got my computer back from HP, so i will ACTUALLY be getting these up in the next few days.

also, yes, i do a fair amount of show trading elsewhere so i'm familiar with marking source lineage and will make sure to mark these as roadcase streams. thanks for the reminder, though :)

Thanks locke! Looking forward to these!

  6. Gregory, if that falls through let me know, I would love to take that ticket. A friend who just got into town would love to go but can't afford it. He would be very happy!

The Vic is still cash only BTW...

For anyone who hasn't attended one of these shows, you are in for a real treat. Last year was my first year but they are two of the best shows I have ever seen. Jeff gives them his all and the intimacy of the events are truly an experience to behold. I thank Sue and Jeff for putting on these shows and I hope this year will raise a lot money for those in need. I can't wait for tonight!

  7. I'm actually more excited that Filter is reopening than the fact that John probably lives around the corner from me.

That place was fantastic and really was a shot to the 6 corners when Bank of America took over that spot.

Go check it out Thagle. The place looks great and Jeff did a great job of keeping the spirit of the old Filter alive. This one should be around a while.

  8. So my company just finished building a new coffee shop in the Whicker Park area of Chicago called Filter. This is a new location as the original Filter was pushed out to accommodate Bank of America. We decided to have our weekly meeting there today since they just opened. So as I'm zoning out and listening to the Wilco mix playing over the sound system, John walks through the door and starts checking the place out. He stayed a while and then left. They had Wilco playing the entire time and he seemed to be digging it. Fun way to start the morning.

If anyone ever hits up that area go check the place out. Sort of has that retro (Wilco) vibe.

  9. So as many of you know, the band Phish has a tradition of donning a musical costume for Halloween and covering an entire album by another band. In the past they have covered The Beatles (The White Album), The Who's Quadrophenia, Remain In Light by the Talking Heads and Loaded by the Velvet Underground. As a promo for the festival where this tradition will continue, Phish has begun to narrow down the albums that are being considered. Wilco's YHF is on the list.

Click the link below and then click on the place card to see the other options. Slide the disc with arrows on it to see all the options.
