Word. Yup, so cool to hear Wilco do (and Jeff sing) "Any Major Dude." "Cars Can't Escape" is a really great song. Alt. version of Hummingbird is very different and good. The first version of Handshake Drugs is bomb; I think I might agree with JT that it's even better than the one on AGIB. And yeah, Sukierae is a GREAT album. I've had to keep myself from overplaying it. :-) Happy listening, SA

I see. For others' reference, the files sound good played through my stereo. I'm very particular about audio quality, and without doing a direct comparison, I think it would be pretty hard to distinguish the sound of these from the CD tracks. SA

FYI the vinyl comes with all the tracks on the CDs, in 320 kbps form. SA

Interesting. . . Alright- Who's ready for a stylus replacement and doesn't mind possibly ruining their old one? :-) SA

I second this humble request. I have the vinyl box which comes with a DL of all the CD tracks, but it would be great to know where and when all these SWEET live versions were recorded, which presumably is info included in the digi-booklet. SA

Anyone else unable to listen to the stream right now?

Thanks for the replies- good to know I'm not alone here. Yeah, I checked that and my Quicktime is up to date. SA -
For me, it just says "Negotiating" and nothing happens. Today was the first time I've tried to listen to it. SA

I was fortunate enough to snag a couple of field tickets. SPA

That's cool about Mermaid Avenue being on Coney Island, I had no idea. I'll be there. You're right, would be the right time to rock out a "new" Mermaid tune or two. Last summer's show at McCarren Park Pool in Brooklyn was outstanding. I recall they played Blood of the Lamb second after opening with Via Chicago. It was killer. SPA

Thanks Sarchi! That article looks helpful- I'll take a closer look at it when I get a chance. I've only had my turntable for a couple of months but I am loving it, and always looking for ways to improve the sound. SPA

Yep, very well may be so. But given Tweedy's well-known affinity for vinyl, I thought that the Wilcoworld site might be inclined to stick to the original meaning when using the term "LP". Who knows? SPA
-
Yep. I was thinking that if it is a single record, I'll really have to figure out how to minimize inner groove distortion on my turntable. I know Wilco's last three albums were released as double LPs, but it would have been really tough to squeeze any of those onto a single vinyl record, as each ran well over 50 minutes. So they really had no choice but to make them double LPs. As you said, avoiding inner groove distortion is a big advantage of doing a double LP, but a single LP would be great too, provided it doesn't much compromise fidelity. SPA

The Ashes audio tracks have SICK sound quality

Good call- I was thinking the same thing when I was listening to them at work today. These files are highly listenable, as opposed to most MP3 files I have ever heard. SPA -
I noticed that the entry on Wilcoworld reads "New Wilco LP Completed". Anyone else wonder whether this might indicate that the new album will actually fit on a single LP record? I realize that nowadays the term "LP" may be just a synonym for "album", in no particular medium. But it would be cool (and convenient) if the whole thing fits on one record. SPA
