  1. Absolutely love it. I wasn't totally sold at first, but I played it while driving home from work the other day and found myself belting out the words. I just love the way Jeff sings this one. And I think it lightens the album's mood in a good way and gives it the diversity reminiscent of a Beatles' album. Perfect, IMO.

  2. This thread is cracking me up.

Anyway, this has to be one of the most beautiful songs ever. I'm falling more and more in love with it with repeated listens. Such a great ending to a amazing album. To me, it seems to end the album with kind of a bitter sweet feeling. Like the way you feel after finishing a great book and not wanting it to end. There's just something so elegant and poignant about it that I can't quite put my finger on. But I can say that this is the first 12+ minute song that I am seriously bummed when it finally ends, I just want it to keep going...now that is an accomplishment.

My favorite lyric: "I fell in love with the burden, holding me down"

  3. I'm loving every song on the album. Favorites are Art of Almost, Dawned on Me, One Sunday Morning, Capitol City, and Whole Love. I was a little underwhelmed by Open Your Mind at first, but strangely enough I am finding the melody stuck in my head more than any other song....weird....

I love all the John Lennon & Randy Newman vibes going on.

  4. sunloathe is very Beatles-y

Yeah, I was thinking the same thinhg. Those background vocals are super Beatle-esque. I love it.

The background vocals are awesome on Dawned on Me as well.

Holy shit, I think I'm in love with this album already.

  5. I have no problem with JB. What I have a problem with is his sound running rampant all over Warren's lovely songs. The California Folk Rock Mafia was not a good fit for Warren. But the majesty of his songs stand the test of time.

I see what your saying, but that album would not even exist without Jackson Browne. At the time, Warren was living in Spain playing at bars with no intention of returning when JB convinced him to come back and record it.

In my opinion, the production is great. Have you heard Warren's first album? The songs are good, but the production is seriously lacking. I think Warren needed someone like Jackson to give him direction in the studio, especially because he was a raging belligerent drunk at the time...
