  1. Agree with the sound, it was better on the second show. And also the setlist seemed much better the second night (I happened to talk to Pat Sansone before the show in Barcelona, just bumped into him outside the venue, and he also said the second night's setlist had been better).

And about the shows not being that long, the Roundhouse had a curfew at 23h, so that explains why they couldn't make it longer... though I agree that both the supporter and them could have started earlier so the concert would have been at least 2 hours long... But it was great. The new songs sound so good live and for me "One Sunday morning" was the best unexpected opener for the concert!

  2. I was there!!!!!!!!!!!!!! And it was a great show!!!!! The venue is surely one of the most beautiful places where they've ever played (a lovely art nouveau building with a wonderful accoustic), and it was packed! The audience was surrendered from the first song and though it was a seated venue you could feel that the audience was warm and having a good time, with lots of applauds and "oeee, ooeee, ooeeee, ooeeeee" chants that the band really loved! People remained seated until half of the encore and I must confess that I was the only one standing up on the stalls dancing happily to "A Shot in The Arm" (just couldn't sit still by then!).

The band enjoyed a lot and said again that they love to play in Barcelona, calling us "the best audience" (well, they may say that everywhere...).

I'm sure the rest of the Spanish tour is going to be great!

    Enjoy, Cris

  3. Hi!

finally you can buy the tickets for the show at Palau de la Musica. Good luck with it!!! Stall seats seem to run out fast (in spite of the prices...). Just be careful with some seats on the higher floors as some have limited view (they say so when you select them). I found the booking process confusing when you want to change the allocated seats, but it turned out fine in the end.

  4. Hi all!

also haven't been around for a long time! Still no news about the show in Barcelona but I'll keep you posted when I find out. I called the box office yesterday morning, when the tickets were supposed to be on sale, but they knew nothing about it, so I guess that there'll be no news until Monday (oh, I love this country...). At least have my tickets for the Roundhouse already!!

  5. Hi!

I don't think anyone posted the setlist of Wilco's show at Primavera Sound Festival this year in Barcelona. I just found some videos on Youtube of the broadcasting of the concert on Spanish tv (I have no clue at when it was aired), and they are brilliant!!!!! As you'll see, most of the show was recorded, except the first two songs (due to sound problems... I remember the band was complaining about it), and only a few others are also missing. You can find all the songs on the users video channel (ordered with numbers) and the recording is amazing!!!!! I'm enjoying the sound better here than what I actually remember from the real live show! So thanks to whoever posted them... ;o)

  6. Just threw Del Amitri's "Twisted" on my playlist during a long car trip last week. Their entire catalog is really good if you like that kind of sad soul pop rock.

Oh, I loved Del Amitri, and I still do... Never had the chance of seeing them live but in the last few years I've seen several times their lead singer, Justin Currie, playing solo and he's amazing. On his live shows he revisits some of the Dels catalog and it's really great!!

  7. Hola everybody!

What a beautiful show we had last night. Jeff played wonderfully and he seemed to be pretty relaxed, joking between songs about some “distractions” that happened during the set. The audience (to my great surprise) was really good!!! The first rows with fans who cheered and sang to the songs and the rest of the crowd quite surrendered to him, wondering how a guy with just a guitar could make such a perfect concert! I also realize now that he played all the songs I had requested on the Wilco site!!! ;o) There weren’t that many requests live, though, something funny, he stopped to change one of the guitars before one of the songs and someone in the audience shouted “Take it Easy” to which he replied that he didn’t know that song, and that had not written it!

    So this is the setlist:

    Spiders (Kidsmoke)

    Remember the Mountain Bed

    I’ll Fight

    Hummingbird

    Please Be Patient with Me

So this is how it all went… Jeff said “hola” and that it was his first show by the beach (the venue, or more specific, the garden, was at the top of a hill with views to the beach below). He asked how Spain had finished on the World Cup and congratulated us for wining the match. Most of the people didn’t know until then that Spain had won so it was real fun…

In one of the songs (can’t remember which one now) he messed the guitar part and laughing told us to imagine Nels playing it! He couldn’t believe that he had forgotten how to play a song he’d written… And among the strange things happening: it seems that there was a dog barking in the distance (at least he had heard him during some songs, and was worried if something had happened as he couldn’t hear it anymore); there was a song were the lights started to come and go, distracting him a bit… Also, a series of fireworks in the town started to sound when he was playing “Via Chicago” but ended up in a huge explosion during “Someday…” that made him say afterwards that they should have finished a song earlier and it would have been really perfect!! As you can see he was in a really “holiday” mood and nothing was affecting him!!

By the end of Wilco (the song) he finished singing: Wilco… J-Lo… Nick Lowe… love you baby! (Nick Lowe is playing tonight in the same Festival). He also mentioned that his family was travelling with him (and that his kids were creating havoc in the village…) and dedicated “I'm the Man Who Loves You” to his wife. And he finished saying “Thanks for having US”, which he immediately corrected and changed with a smile to “thanks for having ME”… ;o)

Musically, he sounded brilliant, as expected!!! It was the second time I’ve seen him playing solo and, again, it was as good as seeing him with Wilco! It was a lovely show!!!

  8. I'm gonna be seing Jeff tonight at the Faraday Festival (first show in Spain, in a seaside town near Barcelona), so I'll try to post some news about it tomorrow. The Festival is located in the gardens of an old mansion like building, up in a hill by the beach, so quite an intimate venue. The location is perfect though I'm afraid the audience is one of the most unrespectful to music I've ever seen... Or at least they were like that yesterday night, talking and "enjoying their time" not paying attention to any of the bands playing... So right now I'm just horrified to think that Jeff's solo show is going to survive to that experience... I'll just keep my fingers crossed and hope that he'll be able to tame the wild with his music! We all know that he can do it!!! ;o)

  9. Now that you mention Grizzly Bear, I see the similarity... I happened to go to a Grizzly Bear show last November in Brussels (one day after Wilco played also there) and I was pretty impressed with the lights they had. It was beautiful, a different kind of lights, not candelabra but hanging lights, that changed colours and followed rhythmically with the music... Looking forward to see if they bring this over to Europe...

  10. Hi! Do you know if Rob is still around? I sent an e-mail with some setlist info but never got any answer or the info was ever updated on the wilcobase site... Is the feedback e-mail the right one to contact? Thanks!!

  11. Awesome! I am a big Del Amitri fan too! I have been spinning their debut alot recently..love Breaking Bread, I Was Here and Hammering Heart. Only got to see Del Amitri once in concert but have seen Justin two times and spoke to him at the last one! :cheers

Oooh, that's so unusual to find Del Amitri fans anywhere!! Good to know! Justin's next album is out next May (and he's got a mini tour in the UK too). He's an amazing songwriter!!

Sorry for the non-Wilco related content here, rest of people! But this is pretty exciting, at least for remphish1 and me!! ;o)

  12. On the last years Wilco have become my favourite band ever so, besides The Beatles and Dylan, I would mention:

    - Long time favourites: Bruce Springsteen, Justin Currie, Del Amitri, Radiohead, Richard Hawley, David Bowie & Tom Petty

    - New music I really love: Fleet Foxes, The Felice Brothers, Soulsavers...

Well, the list could go on and on but Wilco, right now are on the first place!!!!

  13. Where did you find the top request? I know how to request a song, but am attending the Clearwater show, and am curious to see what has been requested. Thanks. Bob

Once you've submitted your request, you are directed to the page with the most requested songs for that show...

  14. Panther is older than 20. This was quite common when I was young. Ever hear "They're coming to take me away" at 45 or 72? Sublime.

Yeah, I didn't mean that (I'm older than 30), so I've also done that in the past! Unfortunately there hasn't been a record (vinyl) player at home for ages... ;o) I was just curious to know what made him try with Wilco!! They JUST sound perfect at normal speed...

  15. Isn't this really a joke? It sounds so fun! Two questions just come to my mind:

    1. Panther, how did you come up with the idea in the first place?

    2. Without a vinyl copy here... Any way of speeding up the sound on a CD player?

  16. Ooh, that's lovely!! Try again e-mailing, I hope it works!

You could also try the song request on the website: request "YOUR SONG" several times explaining the reason why you'd like them to play and maybe they can get in touch with you before the show!

Another idea maybe: having other fan who'd be going to a previous show and manages to talk to the band or their crew to pass on your message...

Good luck again! And keep us posted on any news about it...

Phenomenal show. No, Jeff wasn't that chatty but was very focused on the music and let's face it, that's what counts. He did however complement the audience on the best country-without-English-as-its-first-language-singalong to Jesus etc. that he had experienced (faint praise?)!

    ----------------

Yeah, I was there too and it was an amazing show!!! I thought Jeff was really chatty (maybe compared to previous shows I've been to in Spain...). And the Jesus, etc, singalong was wonderful! You can check it here:

  18. Good luck with your request!!

I was not sure either about the request page but in my case it did work!! I requested (more than once, I have to admit) if they would play "Remember the Mountain Bed" last year in Barcelona and they did!!! I couldn't believe it, really, but among lots of other wonderful songs, specially that one made my day! Mikael was the one choosing that night's setlist, Jeff said... I may start soon thinking about some requests for the next show in town... ;o)
