You'll be better served by Bennington, VT first - then Pittsfield, MA Bennington will be about 1/2 hour away and Pittsfield maybe 40 minutes or so. As you go south of Pittsfield there are lots more options but still, for the reasons I stated before, you'd better book early.

Looks like there are a couple of very nice $175 rooms here along with a few pricier ones. http://topiainn.com/ It's about a 10-15 min drive from the venue but this place is really nice - if it's in your price range I would move quickly on this one. I heard from a friend today that most of the cheaper Williamstown hotels are already sold out. The only walking distance hotels are Holiday Inn and the Porches - both sold out.

I was told by someone in Marketing at MASSMoCA that they are selling "thousands" of tickets. That's a specific as she was willing to get. The facility itself is massive and I"m sure it can hold whatever they throw at it. This part of Masschusetts is called "The Berkshires" and hotel rooms fill up for the summertime well in advance anyway. Tickets at the box office are from the same pool as online tickets so driving there won't help out at all. Good luck!

I know folks who work in marketing at MASSMoCA. I just wrote an email asking them, in the event of a quick online sellout, can I still drive to the box office and pick up tickets from some "other pool". I'll let you know if I hear something before 10AM tomorrow.

The park that is closed for camping is Windsor Lake/Historic Valley is basically the same spot but Windsor Lake camping says it's closed and Historic Valley says it's not. They may be two different spots. Living only 5 miles away, I've never found a reason to camp there. Either way, yes, big steep climb. Cammping within walking distance is gonna be tough. Hoteling within walking distance looks like it's sold out. I dont' know where they are going to park everyone - shuttles mentioned.
