  1. Oh, and was very excited that they closed with Kicking Television. I was fully expecting Outta Mind (which I love but have heard countless times). I’ve maaaybe seen them do it once, so it was a real treat. Great, high-energy version, too.
  2. Wilco and Built to Spill are the two bands I’ve seen live the most, so this was a dream bill for me. First time at the venue and was slightly disappointed after reading glowing reviews that said “no bad seats”. I’m normally a floor person but my companion wanted to sit so we were on the upper side of the (small) stadium where the sound had a noticeable echo. Halfway through we moved to open seats in the center where the sound was much better. Something to keep in mind for the future. After seeing Built to Spill only headline rock clubs, playing to a half-full outdoor stadium in the d
  3. That's exactly it. I've been a huge proponent of SS for that very reason, but this year lost some elements that made it the "festival for people who don't like festivals". I still had a great time, though.
  4. I propose a new rule for SSF4: No chairs or blankets in the front third of Joe's Field.
  5. Thanks! +1 on everything above, today felt like an afterthought. I thought the same thing in '11. It's interesting that they had Levon Helm and MMW respectively close the last 2 SSFs - they both draw a similar (hippie-ish) crowd. While there is surely a ton of crossover with Wilco fans, the vast majority of festivals already serve the "hippy market", if you will. I'd prefer something different. Someone like Beck would be great, but probably too expensive. Also, +1 on the overcrowding. It felt like the secret of this easygoing festival was out! Drastically longer lines, more litter, and mo
  6. I left early today - too hot and tired and too much to do at home. How was MMW? Who were the special guests?
  7. I'm pretty sure you can get cocktails at the bar overlooking the first courtyard stage.
  8. They seemed tired and road-weary to me last night. Not a knock on them - it was still a tight, professional show, but a band can't be "on" every night of a tour and I just wasn't feeling this one. The sound didn't help - the bass was mushy, and treble was bit distorted/harsh sounding. It could also be that I was tired, depressed over the loss of Bill Doss, and have reached my personal live Wilco saturation after ~10 shows. And a "screw you" to the girl who repeatedly screamed as loud and high as she could, right in my ear. Yelling is fine, but unnecessarily damaging someone's hearing is inc
  9. title says it all! I'd be coming in from out of town. I can pay cash, am not a flake, obnoxious, or a weirdo. cellphone battery is dead at the moment, so thecurtis AT email.com works best. Thanks!
