On February 22, Ars Nova Workshop is presenting a concert by the Celestial Septet in Philadelphia, which will be available to non-Philly audiences for free via live webcast. After only four concerts in 2008, this epic ensemble combining the Nels Cline Singers and the ROVA Saxophone Quartet return for only five US appearances, beginning with this night in Philadelphia. Opening for On Fillmore in Philadelphia (July 14 at Philadelphia Art Alliance) is pianist Rachel Grimes. This will be a great show. Tickets still available here.

The Nels Cline Singers will be performing on Wednesday, July 7 at Johnny Brenda's in Philadelphia. And, this just in: they will be joined on-stage by Cibo-Matto founder Yuka Honda! There are two openers: Richard Crandell, who will be performing solo on mbira, and Good For Cows, which is a duo of Nels Cline Singer's Devin Hoff and drummer Ches Smith.
