  1.

Hey all, head on over to WilcoWorld right away to get a free download of A NEW WILCO ALBUM!

No Joke! This is GREAT! Called "Star Wars"!

I'm loving this! "Random Name Generator" is pure crunchy goodness!

The whole thing sounds awesome x 1000. LOVE.

  2. It was through Frontgate, not Ticketmaster... I'd forgotten that, & it was very poorly communicated as such to boot...sorry you missed out & good luck in the general sale...

I was going strictly through frontgate via wilcoworld...cest la vie, so all good - I'm lookimg forward to scoring a pair of tix tomorrow - can't WAIT to see them!

  3. Well here's the report from the "After The Show" section here, & at the very least I can say that there is no way anyone will have to be worried about them editing out the new material from the Roadcase release...14 new songs & 11 oldies...thanks, as always, to our ace reporter from the front lines, the one & only bböp ...

LOVED the show last night - the new stuff sounds awesome (I think someone referenced AGIB, and I have to agree)...Thx so much for posting the setlist!

  4. For SSF2, SSF3 (and now, SSF4) we just rented a house - slightly pricier depending on the rental, but well worth it to be able to lock something in so far ahead. The runaround we got from the hotels in the area was just too much hassle.

This thread should be about 100 pages long by the time we get to SSF4. ;)

  5. Yes!

We took in a North Adams Steeplecats baseball game (New England Collegiate Baseball League) on Thursday night, and it was a good time. The stadium is falling apart, but the fans around us (all 212 of them - that was the announced attendance) seemed to know their baseball.

We also ate at Jack's, a hot dog/burger/fries place that was excellent. The place opened in 1917, I believe. Wicked inexpensive, too. And they only serve hot dogs, burgers, and fries; my vegetarian daughter had to be content with fries. Five of us ate for $28.

Love the free parking. We got into Lot 3 each day. So close to the museum!

We didn't get a chance to check out the Steeplecats this year, but we did in 2011, and it was a lot of fun - I think it's a level below A ball or something - really a cool experience! Yeah, we just couldn't believe how easy the parking was (same thing at SSF2) - we parked at the front lot (literally in front of MASS MoCA, by the overpass - not sure if that was Lot 3...) Friday, and then Sat/Sun the bigger lots - none were far, nor a hassle and all lots were attended at all times - likely by volunteers. Very impressive.

  6. Yeah, I have to agree -  North Adams is such a nice, unassuming little town (with a very, very hip and world class museum). We've been to SSF2 as well as this year's, and both times, we had a blast. We stayed in Williamstown (also very, very charming), and managed to get up to Vermont a little bit, too. Love the whole area, and can't wait for SSF4!

We were amazed how well both towns (and the whole area, really) absorbed the influx of people, media, bands etc. - they really were gracious hosts.

And, this might sound like small stuff (and I'm not sure if anyone has mentioned it), but the parking (at and around MASS MoCA) was free. The town could have EASILY charged $20 or more to park and everybody would have ponied up - yet, instead, they opened up their lots, with attendants, no less. Very cool, and something you don't see in larger cities, that's for sure.

Wilco and North Adams/MASS MoCA are a beautiful fit.

  7. Never saw Neko Case before, and I may have liked her in a different setting, but found her to be totally boring on Joe's Field right before Wilco.  I don't think that was a good match.  Or maybe I just think her music is boring wherever, but I liked the high energy of The Relatives or something to get you going right before Wilco.

I haven't mentioned much about the museum, but the Xu Bing installations, Phoenix and the cigarette rug upstairs, were outstanding.  And the Loft was real fun, especially the big photo on the end wall that allowed for you to step up and get your picture taken on the keyboards as if you were actually in the Loft.

I kinda agree on Neko - I like her music, but the banter seemed strained and tedious...The Relatives were excellent...

  8. Hey VC-ers, just wanted to jump in and say how much we're looking forward to SSF3 - we were there in 2011 (still drying out) and are SO jazzed about this year! We're leaving tomorrow a.m. and we should be there by 4 or so...we'll be looking for the VC table, so we can say hi!

I'm like a kid on Christmas Eve right about now...

(I requested "Roadrunner", and I know I'm not alone, but hey...lol)

  9. The hotel thing was a huge hassle in 2011 and it's been no different this time around...lotta runarounds, bad info etc...so, like 2011, we just went through homeaway.com (costs a little more) and scored some nice digs. There isn't a ton of places, (Williamstown has the most it seems) but it's well worth looking into...

  10. One vote from me for Alabama Shakes! I'm hooked on them. I also think they would fit in very well. I would love to hear Brittney sing with Jeff. Maybe a song from the Band as a duet?

i love Alabama Shakes as well...Brittany's voice is a cross between Amy, Janis and Mavis Staples...good call!

  11. I. Just. Can't. Wait. Either.!!!

But as for SSF3, you've got the crucial part (reservations) taken care of. I kinda think we won't have to worry about a sellout. Maybe they'll have early bird pricing though.

yeah, I seem to recall 'presale' tix. As for accommodations, we went through homeaway.com, which is a great site - we did that for SSF2 (and other trips) and it's pretty easy...btw, I'm praying/wishing/hoping for no rain this time...

  12. You may be jumping the gun a bit....

I hear ya....I only asked about it as I have a commitment on 3/23 (and some pending ones around that time) and last year's show was 3/30-31...I'd really like to go and I'll schedule my stuff around his show...as for SSF, I was just curious when tix were going on sale, because, well...I...just...can't...wait...
  13. Can any VCers give some insight into when Jeff will do his benefit show at the Vic in the spring? Or at least the general time frame (i.e., late March/early April). We went last year and had a blast...

Also, we're all set with accommodations in North Adams next June - is it too early to be wondering when ticket sales will be announced? I seem to recall the '11 SSF tix went on sale in Dec/Jan of '10/'11...

  14. It's the one Wilco song that will almost always make me just pause whatever I'm doing and listen to it and absorb it all. More often that not, I'll hit replay to listen to it again whenever I hear it. Listening to it with headphones on a long plane ride or even just in the car is always a very peaceful and "settling" experience for me. None of the other mellow Wilco songs do that for me in the same way.

I hear ya...there's so much space and atmosphere in this song...
  15. Wow, I love this song...great thread...Dash 7, along with Should've Been In Love are my huge faves on A.M....love the entire album, but these two are very early examples of their impressionistic side - particularly Dash, with the open ambient noise sound at the end...

  16. It's not an impossibility at all. I went to the show on August 4th in Columbus & watched them play ELT for the first time this tour. Jeff even introduced it as "a song we haven't played in a while." I guess those 100+ requests that I put in actually paid off.

We were at the C-bus show as well, and Ioved hearing ELT - it's one of my favorites on ST and I wasn't expecting it at all...
