Every time I listen to the Clientele, I get an urge to listen to the Beatles. I don't know why. Does anyone else here feel that way?
his voice does have a certain lennon-esque quality about it.

We had Marvin Gaye and Tammi Tarrell 'You're All I Need To Get By' closely followed by 'Oh My Sweet Carolina' by Ryan Adams.

you might want to remove that (see the sticky at the top of the forum.)
none of the links work anyway

you're looking in the wrong place. they're on amazon. get this: magnetic south / loose salute (it's a double, and great) certainly two of the best country rock albums i own.
i had a feeling you'd be into them
thanks man

Uncut have been doing a monthly feature on the 'Pioneers of Country-Rock'. Its been pretty good so far with articles on the Burritos, The Byrds, Dylan circa John Wesley Harding..
This month was all about Michael Nesmith of the Monkees and his First National Band. The piece was really really interesting, if I find it online, ill post it..
Anyway - I really want to check these guys out, but after searching amazon, they only have one boxset type thing which is around

Even though the singer does sound uncannily like Jim James, the band's music isn't a carbon copy of My Morning Jacket or Band of Horses for that matter. I hear Grizzly Bear, Fairport Convention, Crosby, Stills, Nash and Young, the quieter side of the White Album, The Incredible String Band. So far both the EP and the LP are my favorites of the year.

agreed on all counts. there are moments on the album that remind me of the brother kite too, but that'll just be the delicious harmonies.
i think the MMJ and BoH comparisons are just plain lazy to be honest.

Neon Neon. One listen catapulted it to one of the best things I've heard this year. And about 200 listens later, this still holds true.
aaah thats the gruff rhys delorean concept album thing isn't it? i still haven't given that a spin..
