I also have a special birthday next year and also from the UK originally!

No public transport, believe there have been shuttle buses sometimes to popular areas nearby

I have been twice, first time I stayed in a motel in Wilmington, Vermont which was about a 25 minute drive away. 2nd time I stayed in student dorms in town, about 15 minutes walk away. That is a great location but no air conditioning and pretty uncomfortable rooms for quite a lot of money. I have heard this will be an option again in 2022.

This time I have booked a place in Williamstown which is very close but still need to drive. all rooms there are gone, but you may find some in Wilmington. And keep checking.

Would suggest you join the Solid Sound facebook page as they have much more going on than here these days.

Thanks summerdai - that's much appreciated and I will look at the Facebook page.

I was hoping not to have to drive when I was in the States but sounds like that might not be option.

Thanks again - see you there!

I hear that. Struck out for Air BNB's the day the festival was announced. I'm sure more places will pop up. but the festival + holiday weekend means they are not gonna be cheap ....

Ended up booking some rooms at the best western in Bennington as a fallback and they were almost filled up.

I have an, ahem, special birthday in 2022 so had been considering travelling from the UK to Solid Sound to celebrate.

Obviously I don't know the area well at all. It sounds like accommodation is going to be a problem. What do folks normally do? Is public transport to outlying areas an option even?

I rang the campsite even but the staff there seemed unclear on when they would allow bookings.

If anyone had tips or advice that would be greatly appreciated before I invest in transatlantic plane tickets!

  3. Nice treat in the encore was You're Not Alone AND Only The Lord Knows. After the latter Jeff conferred with Darin and they agreed they had "time to do both." As Jeff said "Tweedy is the band that leaves you wanting less."

Oh yeah, then they did a cover of "The Losing End!"

  4. Truly great gig. Naturally some good banter about the nose breaking incident but mostly heads down, fill the time with music.

    Solo set:

    IATBYH

    New Madrid

    Mountain Bed

    One Wing

    Forget the Flowers

    Woodgrain

    Via Chicago

    Jesus etc

    Please Tell My Brother

    Spiders

    ITMWLY

    (no particular order)

  5. Hello, All. Long time lurker but new member as of today.

Can anyone confirm the correct setlist from last night? As far as I can remember it was:

    Show time: 21:15

    Art of Almost

    Poor Places

    IATTBYH

    One Wing

    Black Bull Nova

    You Are My Face

    One Sunday Morning

    Rising Red Lung

    Impossible Germany

    Standing O

    I Might

Sunloathe (? not sure about this)

    Hummingbird

    Box Full of Letters

    Born Alone

    Handshake Drugs

    Dawned On Me

    Shot In The Arm

    Encore:

    Whole Love

    Via Chicago

I'm The Man Who Loves You

    Curfew 11:00

Pretty sure about the songs (except for Sunloathe) but a bit sketchy about the order. Don't think I've missed anything, but stand to be corrected. What a show. What a band.

By recollection you should drop Sunloathe, Poor Places and You Are My Face and add At Least That's What You Said.

The order isn't there either by my memory isn't up to that! Great show mind you!

  6. I think thou misseth the point: Scotland, especially the west of the country and particularly Glasgow, isn't particularly noted for its religious tolerance, or as we found out this week, when a guy was murdered in Ayshire, for its tolerance towards homosexuality.

However if you don't want Mr Tweedy back, then we'll happily let him stay!

I got the gag but understood it more as a dig at Jeff's homeland rather than ours but then maybe he is more aware of the situation with sectarianism in Scotland than I give him credit for.

Anyway what is (IMHO) not so forgiveable is his comments in Manchester about the lack of enthusiam in Glasgow... if you don't want people to sit down when you play then don't play seated venues!
