After Cincy the night before, the crowd was much more tame causing Jeff to remark several times throughout the show. First, to comment on how someone had been tased at the show last night so that's where the bar was set and the crowd would need to put in a lot of work to obtain a similar level. Then after Love is Everywhere or Box Full of Letters, he likened himself to David Lee Roth and mentioned how he wasn't a great frontman but they had finished all the songs with lamentations and sad songs so the people who had stood for the previous song could remain standing or not, sitting was fine as well. He mentioned the rest of the songs were happier if you didn't pay attention to the lyrics. He continued that David Lee Roth would have handled the situation in exactly the same manner with the same verbiage, repeating the lamentation portion. Towards the end, he commented he thought there were some real sickos in the audience even if the majority were well-behaved (in reference to several attendees who had been standing and cheering loudly the entire time) but led into it much subtler so it wasn't offensive and drew even more cheers.

Earlier on in the show, someone shouted, "Good job," causing Jeff to comment they really needed the individualized praise and quipped they were doing an above average job. Later, someone praised Glenn in a similar fashion and Jeff asked if Glenn had heard it. When Glenn responded that he hadn't, Jeff repeated the fan's comment and told the audience that Glenn was busy listening to the radio so he doesn't hear everything, then elaborated he had the game on.

They did the faux encore break before or after I'm The Man Who Loves You. If you include the "Nothing" as part of the sentences before they start repeating, I counted 34 total, otherwise I believe subtract 2. Pat seemed engaged and enjoying himself although there seemed to be more parts focused on him from the night before. He had a hauntingly beautiful piano section in Loneliness (?) and the banjo in Box (?) I want to say. We Were Lucky blew me away both nights and Company (or Handshake) was probably the best I've ever seen with them extending the ending with dissonance reminiscent of Less Than. It's nice to see several other songs working their way into the mix, but definitely think some of the lesser-played tunes from Schmilco would compliment the aesthetic they are trying to achieve with this show. Overall, the two nights complemented each other very nicely with the crowd bringing the party on Saturday night and Sunday being more reserved. The subdued audience led to more banter the second night even if the boys appreciated the rowdiness in Cincy.

  2. Loved the George Saunders piece. Psyched for this release! Curious that it's billed as Jeff Tweedy and not Tweedy (one assumes that's Spencer on drums)... Will be curious to see if the Tweedy band are in tow when Jeff (hopefully) tours this album.

I wonder if all of the new songs we've heard so far are on the album. I've bolded tracks I believe that he's played live.

    1. Bombs Above

    2. Some Birds

    3. Don't Forget

    4. How Hard It Is For A Desert To Die

    9. The Red Brick

    10. Warm (When The Sun Has Died)

What about "Drawing From Memory"? Is that accounted for here under a different title or not on the album?

    9. The Red Brick

    10. Warm (When The Sun Has Died)

    11. How Will I Find You

Played but not on the album - Drawing From Memory, Family Ghost, Evergreen, any more?

Thank you to whoever updates the Wilco website.

  3. New Wave Theater is listed as Having Been Is No Way To Be on the Pabst FB post. Not a fan of the show setlist for Milwaukee on their website missing 5 songs. I mean, some really cool people keep their own show statistics in an Excel spreadsheet. Think that leaves Family Ghost and Evergreen (unless Jeff reworked Childlike & Evergreen)?

  4. While i would love a Mermaid Avenue set for Firday, I was listening to the AM and Being There reissues today and it occurred to me that an awesome Friday set would just be non-album and b-sides set.  Between these new reissues and Alpha Mike Foxtrot there would be plenty of amazing setlists that they could come up with.  Perhaps we might even get another reissue with additional tracks before then.

Sunday night - Billy Bragg feat. Wilco

They played a bunch of the songs off Alpha during the winter residency 2014 on their 20th anniversary, but it will be there 25th...

  5. I trust no emotion

    I believe in locomotion

But I've turned to rust as we've discussed

Though I must have let you down

too many times In the dirt and the dust

I have no idea how this happens

All of my maps have been overthrown

    Happenstance has changed my plans

So many times my heart has been outgrown

    Now everybody's feeling all alone

Can't tell you who I am

  6. Anyone in the northeast willing to grab some fresh hops over the next couple of weeks? Interested in Heady/Focal, Treehouse, Trillium, and Sip of Sunshine. Can bring fresh hops from Wisconsin/Illinois including but not limited to Pipeworks, Toppling Goliath, Half Acre and have seasonal/R&D from New Glarus and brewer's reserve from Central Waters. Am also willing to pay cash if you're only interested in a couple beers but can pick up a bunch. Thanks for reading!

  7. Anyone coming from the Northeast interested in setting up a trade at Solid Sound? From the midwest so can pick up any TG hops, Half Acre is releasing Beer Hates Astronauts, Pipeworks or anything else you may be interested in. Have a limited cellar as well but includes New Glarus R&D releases and Central Waters barrel aged reserve series. Interested in any fresh Treehouse, Heady, Trillium and Sip of Sunshine. Shoot me a PM if you want to work something out.

    Cheers!

  8. Well seeing as I have no need to hear every song off YHF again and BT seems to be the best contender to take it down, I have joined your ranks. I have found each browser allows you one vote and it seems to reset for each browser 24 hours after you cast your last vote (between 3:30-4:30 pm CST if you started right away). While the people who want to hear YHF will be excited with this voting mechanism at first, I doubt they have the sheer will and determination to dedicate time to this endeavor on a daily basis. In other words, we shall overcome

  9. Let me rephrase my statement: voting for Schmilco would be voting for one of the weaker Wilco albums...and an album that they've already been touring on. Voting for Being There gets you a full set's worth of classic Wilco, including many songs rarely performed by this lineup, some of the best pure rock 'n roll songs, power pop, the old alt-country, psychedelia and all sorts of amazing songs and styles in-between.

Weaker?!? You talk about your friends that way?

  10. Your vote is your vote, but there's no way any of us should collectively pass up the opportunity for them to play all of Being There. Voting for Schmilco would be about half of a set.

I sincerely doubt the entire set will be made up of one album. They'll play a regular length set with the album somewhere in there

  11. Do we think Wilco is doing two typical sets this year? It seems like in the past by this time we would have known about the all request/acoustic shows. Right?

Was thinking about this as well so checked out the last SS thread, the all acoustic set was announced on May 28. Patience grasshoppers

  12. I doubt there will be any repeats, pretty sure they never have at a SS. But how much Schmilco will we get? Is there a/What's the theme for Friday?

At Solid Sound 2011, they played "I Might" on both nights, 06-24-11 and 06-25-11.

"pretty sure" = didn't do his homework

  13. I thought that too, but I think they've only played Common Sense and Just Say Goodbye in front of people once or twice. Quarters is also not in the rotation, so I guess some of these songs just aren't part of their regular repertoire (that took several tries to spell).

Nope, Happiness & Shrug and Destroy were also played in San Fran

  14. I covered all five 2014 Winterlude shows for Glide Magazine. I break it all down in the article, which is linked below. They played 100 different songs over five nights.

2014 Incredibly Shrinking Tour Song Recap

2011 was the shrinking tour. 2014 had 6 shows and was the 20th anniversary with the alpha collection just coming out so they were doing some rarer songs off that as well. Over 100 songs were played over the course of the 2014 run so perhaps a smidge more than 2011, first one called Winterlude I believe.

  15. So....scared to ask this, but....how many songs will Wilco repeat between the two sets at SS? 15??

I doubt there will be any repeats, pretty sure they never have at a SS. But how much Schmilco will we get? Is there a/What's the theme for Friday?
