  1. Ok, the site has been updated with recent setlists. Check it out and let me know if you see any problems (e-mail to feedback@wilcobase.com).

Upcoming show calendar will be added soon.

And yeah, I'm considering adding a paypal button for donations. I'm not really looking to make money off this, just to cover the hosting and domain registration costs.

  2. Stay tuned... I'm currently working on getting the recent setlists added to wilcobase as well as a way to automate the updates.

As was mentioned here, it's really about finding time to work on this. Right now I have some time, so hopefully if I can get it automated I can lessen the maintenance time needed for future updates.

  3. Wilcobase.com is still there, and will be for awhile. Just no new content. The setlist data has been handed over to WilcoHQ, and they have been working on integrating it with the main wilcoworld site.

The other non-setlist content is up in the air, I can continue to host it for awhile, I just don't have the time to update it anymore.

When I started the site it was a fun, learning experience. Once the site was established and running, it became a chore to keep it updated. Factor in a busy day job, and the site didnt get updated.

Hopefully the data has found a new home, and will continue to be developed and updated.

  4. Well, its not an iphone app, but I put together a couple of pages for a "mobile" version of wilcobase.

    m.wilcobase.com

Right now, it just shows you the 50 most recent shows along with a page for their setlists.

So far I've only been able to test w/ the Android emulator. Looks good on there, but if someone can try this out w/ an iphone and let me know if it looks ok, that would be great.

Here's a couple of screenshots to show what it should look like:

    m.wilcobase.com.png

    m.wilcobase.com_event.png

I'd also welcome any suggestions. I'd like to keep things basic, but some other things I plan on adding are:

    * being able to view more than just the 50 most recent shows

    * being able to search for shows based on date

  5. is it possible for someone to make a username and actually checkmark the shows hes been to and where.i know phish has something like that.

Sorry, it's not possible to do that. I just don't have the time to work on the site much these days. If I ever get back into it, that would be one feature I'd like to add.

  6. Now we need a WilcoBase app to get all the setlists... i know a few apps like this. i have the dmb setlist app

Yeah, I've thought about this as well... B)

I'd like to get into development for the iphone, but since I'm on Windows, and don't have an iphone, I'm kinda locked out... If there was enough interest, maybe we could work something out to incorporate this with the official Wilco app. No need to have a separate app just for setlists...

  7. Yikes!

I may be able to get to it this weekend.

Thanks to A-Man, this effort is well underway. :thumbup

You will now see links to Owl & Bear under the setlists for shows that are available there.

  8. I know - it is a lot of work. I think the thing I liked about Frayed - is the information about the songs/sessions. And now, it is right there with whatever else someone may be looking for.

I suppose it would be tricky linking to the shows at the owl - as I know he does not want to be over ran with people grabbing the shows.

It is up to him of course - as of today, we have about 320 shows listed. I would be glad to help you with the etree stuff.

After contacting Owl&Bear, I got the go ahead to link to the live show recordings from Wilcobase.

I can handle the etree stuff, I'll get it setup so it's fully automated. However, I could use a hand getting the information needed to link Wilcobase to Owl&Bear. If you're up for it, here's what I need - A listing that has 2 fields, seperated by a comma. The first field would be the Wilcobase page for a show, and the second would be the Bear&Owl page for the same show. Here's an example for the April 24, 1995 Wilco show:

    http://wilcobase.com/event.php?event_key=214, http://owlandbear.com/downloads/19950424_w..._peoples_flacf/

If you could help pull together a listing like this, it would be very easy for me to import that into my database and add the links between the sites.

(Note: In this example the forum has truncated the link... I would need the full link for both sites.)

  9. Yeah, I've seen crowesbase.com, in fact, that was of the sites that I looked at when starting Wilcobase.com. That site and deadbase.com were two of the main sites I looked at for ideas about what search/sort features to add to wilcobase.

I think wilcobase is linked in pretty good with the lyrics site. I don't see that much different with the way it's on crowesbase.

As far as linking to the Wilco Live Show archive, That would be totally doable. It could be something similar to the way I link shows on wilcobase to shows on etree. See the bottom of this page:

    http://wilcobase.com/event.php?event_key=1063

I haven't talked to the guys at owl & bear, but I'll drop them an e-mail and see if they mind if I link to the shows they host.

The links to etree is something that I need to update every now and then. I have it somewhat automated, but not totally.

Finally, I could add something to the search to help you find shows where a recording is available.

If this sounds good, let me know, or if you have any other suggestions, I'm all ears. My time is kinda tight for the next couple of months, but I'll do what I can.

It was done at Crowesbase - it could be done here. It would just take time, money, and commitment.

    Take a look: Crowesbase.com

  10. Well, I've had a few days off, and I've been able to add some new functionality to wilcobase.

:party *** PIE CHARTS *** :party

To be more specific, the Event Pages and Songs Played Page have been updated to include a pie chart that shows the setlist breakdown by album.

Figured this would be interesting for some year-end setlist analysis, and also for those Residency shows.

I also made an update to the Songs Played page... If your date range has more than 100 shows, only the first 100 will be displayed in the table below, but all songs played will be accumulated for the stats & pie chart.

As always, let me know what you think, and if you have any feedback or other ideas on how to slice & dice the setlist data, you can reach me at feedback@wilcobase.com

  11. I just got an e-mail with the setlist for a private show that was held last night at a someone's house in Chicago as a Democratic fundraiser.

Anyone else heard about this? Anyone else there?

    Here's the setlist:

    What Light

    California Stars

Happy Birthday (it was John's 40th)

    Christ for President

The e-mail said that only the Chicago members of WILCO were present.

  12. correct me if i'm wrong, but i don't think they are available for download yet. i'm thinking it might be the same day as the release date...

    -justin

Which is today. I'm guessing they are working on it, and we should hear something, or see something on Wilcoworld.net soon.

    From the e-mail:

There will also be a European tour edition of Sky Blue Sky available there November 12... it comes with a bonus disk featuring:

    01: The Thanks I Get

    02: Let

  13. Personally I liked having the tracker here on VC, and making it dedicated to WILCO & related torrents only. Since they were all in one place, it was easier to keep them seeded & they never got deleted off the server, so they could be brought back to life if someone posted a request. I don't remember the official reason why the torrent server was removed, but I'm guessing it was taking too much time & effort to maintain.

gogo & A-Man had a related discussion on another thread, which is now closed:

    http://forums.viachicago.org/index.php?showtopic=31666

In the past I've linked show setlists on wilcobase to etree.

See this show for an example -- All the way at the bottom of this page ;)

    http://wilcobase.com/event.php?event_key=907

I haven't updated these links, but thats just because of my neglect. I have a script that does this, so I don't think it should be too difficult to update. Granted these aren't links to places where you can download the show, only links to the etree entry, and other etree users that list the show in their trade list. I'd be open to other ideas about how to link Wilcobase to these torrent sites. I've considered writing a script that will search bt.etree.org, (and other torrent sites), and aggregate the WILCO related torrents onto one page. (ala torrentspy, mininova, etc).

As many of you know by my not so speedy setlist updates, my time is limited... but i'd like to be a part of a project like this that makes it easier for everyone to find WILCO shows to download.

I can't tell you how many times I've wished I could just click a link on a song listed on wilcobase, and be able to download the song, or at least a low-quality MP3 sample.

If any of this makes sense to you, and if you have any suggestions on how I can improve wilcobase in this regard, don't hesitate to drop me a line. (I can't keep up with the forums here, so e-mail works best for me) feedback at wilcobase dot com

  14. (quick check on wilcobase...)

It's one of the standard show openers, and it's been the opener every time they've played it on the SBS tour. God I love wilcobase.

Thanks! I love Wilcobase too, one of the best archives around.

Thanks y'all. At times updating the website seems like a chore, but it's comments like this that keep me going.

    :cheers

  15. Here was the setlist for Toronto (in order, of course :pirate)

    Paul -

Thanks so much for all the setlist updates. If our paths ever cross again out there on the road, the first round or three is on me!!!

    :cheers :beer

  16. Wow, quoting a post that's over 3 years old... That must be some kind of record! :lol

The thing about the date sorting has always bugged me as well. So, it should be fixed now.

And it's already been said, but I do my best to keep up with setlists as they come in. Earlier this year I got behind, and last week, I was w/o internet as well, so that was the reason for the delay there.

I really view the site as a historical archive of setlists, along with some cool ways of viewing, sorting, dissecting the setlists. If you really want up to the minute setlist reports, these forums are probably your best bet. :cheers

As always, if you have any suggestions, I'll see them & respond much sooner if you send them directly to me --> feedback@wilcobase.com

2 things about wilcobase. one why cant the home page default to the latest shows? people are not looking for setlists fron 1994 when they log in. they want to see the most recent ones first. which leads me to my second point. is there a reason why it takes sometimes up to a week to post the setlist from a show? Thanks
As you may have heard, Jane is stepping down from her role as Timeline Chick. Never fear, your Wilco setlist needs will be handled by WilcoBase.com.

With co-operation from Jane, I've setup a database with the information contained on her Timeline pages. Check it out, and let me know what you think. I'm very open to suggestions to make the site better, so drop me a line if you have some good ideas. Also don't forget that pen and paper when attending Wilco shows -- jot down the setlist, and post it here when you can get back to a computer.
