  1. This was my 12th Wilco show, 2nd of this run. That's far fewer shows than a lot of people here but I started late! I was minutes away from not going due to the lack of diversity in the set lists this run. Figured I'd seen what I needed to on Wednesday.

The reason I still go to Wilco shows is to catch that feeling of hearing their songs, songs I've listened to over and over again, in some kind of different light. Doubted I'd get that after reviewing the sets for Thursday and Saturday.

Tonight was great, of course, and I walked away reminded that Jesus, Etc. is the most beautiful song that I've ever heard. First Wilco song I ever listened to over a decade ago. But it felt different tonight and I'm glad I saw it. Every time I've seen them I've walked away with that feeling about a song or two. I'll never second guess an opportunity to see them again. Great run.

  2. Yes, safe bet. I don't think it has sold out before and tickets not hard to come by come May and right into June.

I totally agree. Requiring those fields is obnoxious. Clearly they aren't smart (hence the math thing) and are going to use this to figure out how much to charge us for things in the future.

    Great, thank you

  3. Nonesuch is running a promo right now for their redesigned web site I guess. 50% off anything until tomorrow (4/21) at 1 PM ET. Includes all Wilco albums up to and including W(TA). Just picked up KT box set for 32 bucks.

Sorry if this isn't the spot for a thread like this, but figured some people here might like a heads up.

  4. We get winter residency shows every 3-4 years and the Vic charity shows, definitely not a bad deal.

We also seem to get summer outdoor shows near or in Chicago almost every year anyway.

  5. There's Austin City Limits, too, but their bookings are nowhere near as adventurous as Night Music and Sessions were,or Jools is.

Ben Folds Five released a Sessions at W54 DVD, with their full set, plus extras. It doesn't make any sense to me why so few of the acts that played it have done this. And of those who did, most of them seem to have gone out of print.

Yeah I have the BFF DVD, some of the extras are pretty funny. Great performances too.

By the way, who is that playing acoustic in the background with Wilco on California Stars? (Still won't have full performance for a bit, not sure if he's credited)

  6. Not sure if this is a better topic for the Future Age subforum, but does anyone know where to find a full recording of the Wilco episode of Session at West 54th? Not necessarily looking for a torrent as I'd love to own a hard copy of it. I've watched the performances of My Darling and California Stars from that episode countless times, but I haven't been able to track down a copy of the episode anywhere.

  7. I agree. There’s an anxiousness and darkness in the lyrics and Tweedy’s voice. That, combined with the sonics and beautiful studio pop conjured up by…I assume in somewhat large part, Jay Bennett (the pinnacle being Pieholden Suite…so amazing!)…makes for really fascinating listening. For me, it's Wilco's masterpiece.

Meant to quote and reply...but couldn't agree more about the lyrics on ST. Of were talking strictly lyrics the whole ranking might change but I'd go ST, BT, YHF top 3

Wilco's "Star Wars" LIVE!!! Right after Wilco released their new album, "Star Wars", for free, they headlined the Pitchfork Music Festival in their hometown of Chicago & opened the show by playing the whole new album, start to finish. Someone uploaded their Pitchfork Fest (July 17th) performance of the complete new album...Enjoy!!!

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Bt8F1F1mVpg

And for anyone that hasn't gotten this already, here is the download of the full Pitchfork performance: https://www.dropbox.com/s/wby5udgdbe7n923/Wilco%20-%202015-07-17%20Pitchfork%20Music%20Festival%20%5B1080p%5D.mkv?dl=0

    and the complete audio: https://www.dropbox.com/sh/kubfj9ucbri6gqy/AACUkz5GiRPvjNz4EG2A8xg9a?dl=0

Is it just me or is the audio on that YouTube vid way higher quality than the dropbox vid? Maybe I need to DL again.

  9. Is this the July release? If you sign up before the 15th you can get that month's record, so what I'm wondering is if it's too late for AM.

Nevermind, I see this is the August record. Hmmm.....

So if I'm understanding this correctly, we can sign up any time before August 15th and get AM?

  10. I almost posted the same thing. But I haven't been able to give Star Wars enough listens, so I was giving everyone the benefit of the doubt. :lol

Outside of maybe someone's top 1 or 2, I'd bet everyone's list changes day to day, week to week, etc.
