  1. There aren't many, imo. Boston Garden, 10.1.94, is a pretty great show though, particularly the playing in the second set:

    Help on the Way ->
    Slipknot! ->
    Franklin's Tower
    Walkin' Blues
    Althea
    Me & My Uncle ->
    Big River
    Tom Thumb's Blues
    So Many Roads
    Promised Land

    Scarlet Begonias ->
    Fire on the Mountain
    Way to go Home
    Saint of Circumstance ->
    Terrapin ->
    Drums ->
    Space ->
    The Last Time ->
    Stella Blue ->
    One More Saturday Night

    E: Liberty

    Nice call...

  2. there's some pretty bad stuff out there. not as bad as it could have been if phil and bob lost it like garcia did. jerry's playing really didn't start to go to hell consistently until late 91 as far as i can see. add in his voice decline and it was pretty rough go there. that being said, jerry band in the 90s always rocked. go figure.

    I agree with the part about Lesh and Weir, post-91. It seemed as they started to play the new songs (Eternity, Long Way to Concession Stand, Liberty, Lazy River Road, So Many Roads, etc.) they along with everyone, but Jerry was present in the music. Again, within the 92-95 years you can find incredible moments and even full shows, example RFK 92, Dean Dome 93, and Charlotte 95 (Bruce Night). I struggle personally to come up with a standout in 1994. But, I'm sure someone else will chime in having had some magical experience.

  3. I've read in various places over the years that the so-called punk rock people hated such bands. I suppose Bob is sort of like Mick Jagger - in that he stays current.

    Yea, who can forget his support of Hanson...sorry I couldn't help myself. All kidding aside happy birthday to Mr. Strummer!

  4. I'd say they are going more and more for the Deadheads with deep pockets. Plus - they are only printing 9,000 copies. It's not something I would be interested in buying. It's probably moreso a Rhino thing, than a GD thing.

    It's gotta be hard to sell something that everyone already has in most cases. All of those shows are available via BT or streamable on the Archive in SBD or even matrix quality. I think the book, tickets and memorabilia is an attempt to interest would be buyers. I know I would love to have it but, I can also no longer justify spending that kind of money. I think the recording industry is going to face a bitter pill to swallow soon as more and more people turn to file sharing and streaming.

  5. Right, I hear you. I think Obama has done some great things, but there is much that still needs to be done. I would have to say that I'm still in support of him but I hope he has a better strategy and plan for the next 4 years. To me it appears that he was a little overwhelmed with putting out fires. I just hope he's able to continue for another four years and redeem himself. We are at a very difficult place in the arc of our country, where the economy seems to need to be propped up by the government subsidies, but at the same time running up such an alarming debt, something has got to give and it's a tough call no matter who is in the White House.

  6. I think it also has to do with the economic downturn that came on during the Bush years and the post 9/11 spending. It's not just a response to Obama but a response to government spending which to many has been out of whack since the New Deal.

    Wilco's Mikael Jorgensen And Greg O'Keeffe Ready The Release Of "ARMZ

    Since beginning work in 2002 on Wilco's "A Ghost Is Born," Mikael Jorgensen has been an integral member of the band - both in the studio and on the road. The ever prolific Jorgensen, when not working with Wilco, has kept himself busy recording and touring as a collaborative artist. In 2007 Jorgensen, working with longtime collaborator and drummer Greg O'Keeffe as "Pronto", recorded their Contraphonic Records debut, "All Is Golden." It's a 70′s-inspired tome that serves as a record of action - of waking up and moving on - cross-country trips to California - black days and blue nights giving way to better times and warmer promises. It’s AM-Radio songsmith filtered through the speakers of a modern-day prism.

    In the spring of 2010, Mikael, Greg and Adam Chilenski on bass, entered The Bunker Studio in Williamsburg, Brooklyn to record Jorgensen & O’Keeffe’s newest LP, Bunny Hate Wolf. After listening to the expertly played and recorded basic tracks, Jorgensen felt the overall style was too predictable, ordinary, and decided to abandon most of the conventional instrumentation and replace it with more adventurous synthesizers and music technology of any variety. This labor intensive shift in perspective has produced one of the most interesting electronic music records in recent memory. The analog synthesizers and music software provide a stimulating, ever shifting context for these songs to unfold and develop. The result is an electronic music record that was built from the song up, without relying upon clubby or dance-music cliches.

    On October 30th, Chapel Hill's Odessa Records is releasing the lead single from those sessions "ARMZ" b/w "Love Drug" remixed by WAUMISS and features the incredible artwork of Cassandra C. Jones. Look for the release of Bunny Hate Wolf in early 2013!

  8. I also share those same nightmares...more along the lines of Weir's "daisy dukes" :crybaby I appreciate understand the "respect the music...i.e. performer appearance" I just hope that he's healthy and happy! Your comment reminds me of when I took my wife to see Dylan and Paul Simon a few years back, she made the comment that Dylan not only outperformed Simon he was better dressed!
