Sister Sooie? What a great name for a song!
-
The Beatles were a great band, but the Band weren't great Beatles.
:lol
I took my dad to lunch yesterday then went back to his house to play guitar with him. He opened up this guitar chords book to see what we could play together, and it fell open to Let It Be on the left hand page, and The Weight on the right. I didn't bother telling him about all this shenannigans, but I was dying LOLing on the inside!

Aww, that's cool, Leo. Something you and your daughter can always remember.
And don't sell yourself short. You would've made a wonderful brain surgeon!
-
I hate to point it out, but Bob Dylan was a better band than The Band.
-
May your birthday be shinier than a sweaty porn star, if you catch my drift.
Happy Birthday, Kevin!

But just think if Richard Manuel had sung it.

I am one day away from completing the fall ritual of hauling of a cord of firewood -- first up the hill, then up the stairs. I've been working on it almost every day for the last 3 weeks or so -- I think I'm actually going to miss this activity.
I've been wondering where you were (or where I was, for that matter).
-
Nice.
Never seen those before.

From their website, here is another of their past bookings:

Nerdy is BobBob again. The planets are back in their rightful places.
You've posted about your love of early Beatles before, Chris, so that when I'm running and Words Of Love or some such comes on my IShuffle (not often, as I only have two Beatles songs in there right now), I always think of you.

Just till it was over...

My friend ran into Jim James at the beer line. Probably not a strange thing for Louisville.
I KNEW I shoulda drank more beer!
Posters will be available on WilcoWorld, as well as my website, this coming week.
And nice pics, Vince. I need to get a grownup camera one of these days...

I'm not gonna read through all the jackoffery spirited debate on here, but I'm beginning to think that "Tasered Student" would be a good name for a fledgling punk band.

That was a really good show! Nice to see Elixir Sue, and have dinner and drinks with Mtn Bed, Pocahontas and Ashtray Sez, see some old friends, and hear all those great old songs (and great new songs)!
Impossible Germany was off the hook, during Spiders when they were all rocking out across the stage with their weird little moves and dances, it kinda looked like the dance scene in Charlie Brown Christmas, and made me glad these 6 people had found each other. Just That Simple was beautiful and it does your soul good to see John up there singing his heart out, and Jeff bobbling around under his big hat like ol' Bob Dylan, plucking on those bass strings.
Other nice moments: Pat's great elastic soloing on BFOL, and then all the people dancing little jigs in the aisle during I Got You and Outtasite, Jeff laughing and saying "Dude, I can't help you out right now" to some guy who seemed to be wanting Jeff to sign his poster during the show as security escorted him to the outer aisle, and Nels just losing his fucking mind on so many songs!
Real good times.

Okay, I don't know how many are planning to meet at Browning's Pub at Slugger Field, but I hope to. If you're coming to the show, come on to the Pub if you can. I'm hoping to be there around 6:30 or 6:45. When you get there, ask for the VC Party. If none exists, start one, asking for a table(s) for around 8 people (who knows?).
Here's some info on the place and its brews: Clicky
Should be an awfully good time
Safe travels!
-
Pub sounds good to me too.
Any predictions for the show, Scott?
-
How do you know it's not?
-
This sounds like a great show!!!
Can you please go on and post a pic of Jeff's hat, cause I'm thinking about geting a new hat tomorrow, and I don't want to get the same one...
-
Here is what my aunt said when I asked her about places around the stadium:
"At Slugger Field is Browning's pub. The food is always good. The micro brew
is sometimes good sometimes not. They have a full bar as well.
Right across the river, I would use the 2nd St bridge if I were already
downtown or you can cross at the I65 bridge is a Kingfish, and Buckheads and
Rocky's Sub Pub. All three of them are good and they over look the river. A
great sky line. all three also have outdoor eating. Buckheads has the best
beer list of those three."
I will explore furthur unless someone else has suggestions. The weather is supposed to be great! Maybe a little warm.

Definitely go. Sonny can still play, and Steve Jordan really adds energy to his band.
One last thing about Lou: he looked healthy/good in person. I've seen recent photos where he looked pretty haggard, but not in person. I was surprised.
Thanks for indulging my excitement over seeing the guy. I feel kind of stupid about it, but, hey, it's Lou Reed. It's funny too because the soundtrack of my past week has been the 1969 VU album. I've hardly listened to anything else, and then to see the guy...
May I recommend Set The Twilight Reeling if you don't already have it? Such a great album!
-
Wow. I would love to see Sonny Rollins. AND meet Lou Reed. What a night!
