  1. Hey man!

I'm so happy to see this amazing bunch is still here, and better yet they care as much as I do for them.

I apologize for any worry I caused

I'm so lucky to have people in my life as amazing as the VC crew...

Thank you for always being there

And of course putting up with my shananagins!

That takes a rare bunch of folks to achieve that task!

  2. Have seen truss rods go through necks....look at them like the extra gas your car has when it says its on Empty. It will get you home if your close enough already. Working a truss rod is just giving you your correct relief.... Everything lies in working the saddle height to the neck angle while adjusting acordingly and still maintaining proper intonation,or working intonation on saddle if needed...assuming that your nut is cut correct and filed at the right angle also. Which even goes as far as saying a lose screw on a tuner or bad tuning machines can cause improper intonation. In checking my relief or a certain players prefered relief with a lose truss rod or straight neck, ill then usualy give slight relief from 5th fret to about 12thish...all depending if frets are all even and no rocking or wear is aparent. I use to love low action...after finding out how flawed an instrument the guitar is and all the factors that go into a setup i changed my veiw and you actualy get better tone or response with a longer string length....think about it... which note last longer? a note played on a mandolin or a note played on an upright bass? But dont go making it hard on yourself...find a luthier...the lifetime luthier and stick with him. Ive never not had a repeating client..not cause im a nice guy,but i give a promise and ill answer any question and explain how it works right infront of these people..sometimes a whole family. One great Luthier inspired me with this same code and it feels good when you build that relationship!

  3. I have never had good luck getting a pedal repaired. Always seems to cost more than just buying a new one. Plus all the places that do it seem to have a 6 week backlog of work so you end up pedal-less for a long time.

I have a huge graveyard of broken pedals, especially wah wah pedals. Cry baby should let you trade in 5 broken ones to get one new one or something.

Go buy the Fulltone OCD and be very happy! And then get a DIY kit for the Boss and if ya f it up ya didnt lose much and if it works than ya have a really decent pedal...

  4. Did pretty well this morning:

Toronto Night 1 - 2 seats, row D, dead center

Toronto Night 2 - 3 seats, row H, dead center

Damn this will be a fun three days!

when you ever gonna come down this way...or hey, invite some of us up taht way? :hmm

  6. That. Is. Awesome. :thumbup

Thank You! I would love to celebrate but not quite sure how to? My new GF lives in Wyoming and I cant celebrate in that manner :ermm

Oh yeah,I have a whole new life....Ill fill in the the details latter...turns out that old girl was kinda a big B :devil and I needed to be loved for once in my life! :cheekkiss she is so amazing with support and she happens to like good music also!

  7. Oman! :w00t so happy to see you here! renic and i were wondering where you might be. sounds like you've undertaken some serious personal business in the last couple years. fucking a. well done. :dancing

i've never smoked: everyone in my family, everyone, smoked. most of them still do. BUT! several years ago one of my sisters quit and has been singing a song of what life is like after cigarettes ever since.

any time you spend off cigarettes has to be good. YOU CAN DO EET!

ps. i hope to see your face materialize in a random crowd again somewhere this summer :ninja

Wont be doing alot of these actions :cheers but I now feel ok in my skin...thats when life starts to just happen, and I still beat myself up at times but hey...maybe thats just putting it in check. It took years to even go out in public without some vise...and a concert,no fn way before :realmad I dont think id choose to do it but I know I could stand nude infront of 20,000 people at a public event and not give a shit..Id be sorry for all your guys sake, but life is good when you want to love and let love in. So ill def try to get out soon but please let me keep my clothes on! :blush love ya

  8. My little brother is dealing with this. So is my mom as a co-dependant interms of the $1,000s he stole from her, and the fact that she's paying the debt to save his ass from going to jail over the theft and the all out damage he did. I guess he's clean. My mom won't be (or ever has been) honest about this.

I'm glad to hear you say you kicked this.

Yeah,I getcha for sure....Ive been aiding my help to an old buddy of mine for the past month. Its only going to happen if he or she really wants it! I was prescribed it and still could be if I wanted to but the cons of that drug are so nasty that id rather just feel my pain 24/7. One thing you can never do is aid your help with money...once ya do it its a free flying sign saying..hey take my money and steal from your family. Luckily Ive got an honest heart and Id rather tell the truth than fool myself. It is that whole denial deal and waking up from it one day and admiting your faults and then finding the ability to look back on it and be able to speak up and out about it. If you cant make that step than relapse will always happen for sure. I can say that the suboxon has worked for alot of people and he should try it! It comes down to him and his choices and his friends...I dont have many friends these days but thats a good thing!

So this Saturday will be 30 days with not one single slip up or anything! I can say it has gotten easier but there are times that I wouldnt mind murdering a small village or town..ahhh I made a deal with myself and I made it a month and now Im gonna go for a year! Thanks guys for all your support and kind words...and to those of you who know me,know that if I can do it than anyone can.

  9. Speaking of flipping guitars to other guys, what is the best way to sell a guitar? I have never actually tried to sell one as I tend to get attached to them. But for me guitars are for playing and I have really negleged these 2 (Vaccaro Generator X and a G & L Rampage). Actually I have not decided if I can part with the rampage. I supposed Craigs list is the way to go but I prefer not to have strangers coming over and wheeling and dealing. I don't mind making a bit less if it saves me a hassle. Pawn shop? Consignment at a guitar store? E-bay?

Dont sell Pawn...Buy Pawn and estate and garage sales. I take it your not gonna make atleast a hobby flippin guitars right..just the random dont play, want a new toy or cash? If so I would do Craigslist....its not that bad and ive had guys fly from Cali to STL just to play my geetar. I guess with my shop at home im use to strangers...talk for atleast a half hour to feel it out. You will know if you even wanna ever even see this person..really! Consingment is awesome for me just cause ive hung around or worked at some decent shops over the past few years...a good relationship always goes a long way! This is a dickish move but not too bad...do all of them at the same time and take the highest bidder even if you sell it in the parking lot of the store ya have it consinged at....but dont expect to return back to that store or have a friend left at that store. When it comes down to selling personal items...i mean really personal items i say waite and sell it to a friend or a friend of a friend that atleast promises to call you when and if he or she sells it.

Im working on an online boutique...new and used, small luthiers and vintage and restored instruments. I think it will take me the summer to finish the site and the financing...product..bank loans ect. But the idea is to keep small things for sale such as wiring harnesses, strings, custom inlay..ect,but get a bunch of small time luthiers and unite and share space, but virtual space and also doing consingments and such with taking a small fee to keep the site up and paid for my time and contacts...alot of great luthiers can build but cant sell a guitar to save their life! Im calling it Definace Guitars...my own guitar models and restore projects as well. I own all the domain names and have hosting set but still need a few small...well major things to make it work. my email is info@defianceguitars.com and the site is www.defianceguitars.com will be up asap. email me with any info or questions and if ya just need a friend to talk to and ill give ya my cell number..all knowledge is good, and the more contacts you have make this kinda stuff really easy. Never be afraid to call or email the big dogs either, most folks in the industry are just like you and I! Take care and good luck!

  10. Good luck with that. I've heard (not saying it's true, just saying I've heard) that nicotine addiction is harder to kick than heroin.

I got really lucky when I quit. I was stranded at my brother's house with no cash, plus I was bedridden with the flu. So I felt crappy alread; didn't have anybody that would go out and buy me smokes; and I didn't have any money to get them myself even if I felt like getting out of bed.

    Wow.... thats just mean,

So yeah,Kicking a 2 year Oxycontin Addiction was easier. Also a 7 year Booze Bindge was easier also, and so was a 5 year Benzo Phase which I did do cold turkey on all of them...omg,that was stupid, but smoking is not looking like a lesser of an evil either... I think its the hardest drug ive ever faced. That doesnt mean if you have quit smoking than you should go out and get a fix kiddos... Cigs are a gateway drug,or atleast for me. Im that dude who leaves a full pack with lighter in my old smoking chair just to punish me. It has worked for 2 weeks...and thaks to you all, really guys,I miss ya guys and have weeded out alot of friends the past few years to get my life straight and this is my last hoop to jump through!

So checking the POLL, the only person who said im fd for life is still a smoker...good news,kinda.. LAMROD....JOIN MY TEAM

  11. I quit cold turkey in 2004. it was really tough, but not feeling guilty every time I lit up felt great. once I stopped, I craved them once in a while, but eventually I was repulsed when I'd have to walk behind someone smoking, etc. good luck - you can do it!

This is exactly how I feel. I made a plan to quit before i turned 35...just turned 33 so I said f it..lets do it. I can smell cars driving down the highway smoking and its so gross..I hate the look,I hate the smell,I hate the taste and it does repulse me..even when i did it. Thank you so much....Ive pretty much cold turkied all my bad habits,so things like wanting a cig when I have a drink just wont happen. I made rules... 1...dont smoke 2...dont smoke in car 3...never ever smoke inside 4...stop hanging out in my garage, but i love my garage with all my tools..ahhh.

I never smoke in my studio when playing music, all smoke free and also my band just broke up so thats good I guess. At times it does smell some what good,or kinda comfortable..ya know.

And thanks Chris... thats about the worst good advice you have ever given me. Maybe ya can just blow some smoke up my you know what! I do get ya girl...i get it,its cool, well kinda cool. xoxo

  12. Yeah, I struggle with some of these old guitars. Teisco Del Reys and harmonies and things. They can be so hard to keep in tune and even when they are, the intonation is so bad it still sounds out of tune. With some work you can get them working fine but I'm lazy and I don't want to be a guitar tech just to play music. And yet I'm always looking on Ebay for deals on them.

Well I am a Tech and keeping some of these guys playing is a hobby so always keep that in mind. If its a solid body with good neck I say buy! intonate and setup and ur good...fret work is every guitar, ive done more fret work on my al lee music man than most of my random vintage gear...i dont hold onto guitars like i use to. For one ya dont get attached and two you always got a new toy....geetars are fun, have fun,and if ya dont like it than flip it to some other guys who will :cheers

  13. Thanks Sista! Just a bit more info on topic at hand then off to bed...

Those of ya who know me also know Ive kicked quite a few things in my day,but this seems to be the hardest for sure... Every other habit I kicked just whooped my arse so hard the first few days that the week after felt some what normal.... This does not apply to smoking the old cigs. And the past two months have been up to or over two packs a day. Thanks Guys, and I know alot of ya will have some good advice for me and it will really help me if ya stop by and share a story!

  14. I have a few 20s and 30s parlors and a few gibson arch tops from the 30s to 60s.... always can grab up old harmonies. Just restored an old yamaha, man oh man...martin killer. Alot of my older guitars need a bit to alot of work..i just dont have the time to repair them unless they are going to a good home.

  15. I wondered why no one had put this up, besides Wilco having an amazing spread in this I would suggest this journal to anyone who loves music magzines and hates adds and all the bullshit stories about artists that you could give a fuck less to know about. It's quaterly and well worth the price, great writers, photos, and actual.....Hey,wow I didn't know that or That was something I would of never imagined learning about someone or something. They sit on my coffe table as a center piece....they really look that profesional.

I missed you at Farm Aid MotorBoater.............Sorry,some day.

  16. It is a 2004 model. The steel wool is good, but not quite the finish I am looking for. Gonna try the 220 sandpaper next time I make it to the hardware store. As for polish/wax, can you provide a stewmac link (or similar) or the specific brand? I would appreciate it!

Just google GHS Guitar Polish............Music 123 has it, I bet your local store does also.

  17. I've never played one, but I've found yamaha guitars, on the whole, to be pretty darn good guitars. Can someone explain to me how a guitar with a solid sitka spruce top, and a rosewood back and sides, is $299? There's got to be a catch, obviously. Is there a such thing as rosewood laminate?? :lol

CHILD LABOR and BREAKING FSC LAWS Most of these are solid woods traded with peoples heads turned.

Only gear I won't sell is a 60's Yamaha small body and a 90's Yamaha drumset.

And you can laminate anything.............Blueridge has a Brazillian Rosewood laminate model..WTF
