there's something about a band that's been together for 20 +years and these guys have the chops to back it up.
I agree. I saw 'em in Louisville, KY and thought the same thing. Everything about them is musical (even covers they seem to be learning on the spot!)
so they played Pass the Hatchet, I think I'm Goodkind AND The Story of Yo La TengoThey bookended their sets with those two in Louisville ... well, opened with Autumn Sweater and then straight into Hatchet. It was good stuff. Total of four songs from I Can Hear the Heart! One of the greatest bands ever!
They had Antietam supporting in Louisville. YLT really takes care of bands they've known for a while. You gotta love that.

Is it just me, or does Wilco get mentioned on every one of these "year-end" lists?
-
What the hell is Motorhead doing on that list?!
-
I'm sure this was on one of my junior high English tests -
America is to Neil Young as Steeler's Wheel is to Bob Dylan
-
and the one that has Shocker in Gloomtown on it (forget it's title).
The Grand Hour

Is it that you're pissed I used "solecism" before you could work it into your next EP? Or did Capitol already send you the pink slip? I thought they were waiting until March to clean house...
Amazing!

Beatles/The White Album - Revolution 9
Probably not the greatest thing ever committed to tape, but I think it's better than Ob la di Ob la da and at least three other songs on the White Album.

also, is there an ftp of their stuff. finally, is it worth trying to get ALL of their singles and eps etc. i can just see their entire catalog of now rare stuff sitting in the bin at gem city records where i worked!
thanks

As far as EPs, the best ones are I Am I Scientist, Jellyfish Reflector, Tigerbomb, and the one that has Shocker in Gloomtown on it (forget it's title).
DTS should be able to point you in the direction of a ton of shows!

I live for this kind of thing
Good Day Sunshine - Revolver (Beatles)
Time of the Season - Oddessey and Oracle (Zombies)
Vampire Blues - Neil (On the Beach)
"sometimes I get the feeling that you don't want me around" (don't know title - Alien Lanes (GBV) *man - perefect band for this list
Heavy Metal Drummer
The Bark and Below It - Black Foliage (Olivia Tremor Control)
Bad Light - Keep it Like a Secret (Built to Spill)
Tarpit - You're Living All Over Me (Dinosaur Jr.)
Black Diamond - Let it Be (Replacements)
Natural Harmony - Notorious Byrd Brothers - Byrds
Mostly pretty cool songs. Just the lowest points on otherwise perfect albums.
-
The majority of those songs were ruined for me when I heard them.

Looks cool. I wonder how many shows they played with that lineup. Couldn't have been many.

My 6th time seeing Wilco, and hands down my favorite. The energy was totally there. Sound was incredible (for an outdoor venue). I thought the mix of songs was great. Performance was spot on.
(I was the only one that knew the new stuff though). Not true. I was singing Impossible Germany. I have to admit though, I wasn't prepared for the greatness of the live Impossible Germany experience. Even Walken, I wasn't wild about it when I first heard it, but like Kingpin, it's a great concert song. Kingpin ... until Saturday I was lukewarm about it. Especially with the jam ... they could've easily swapped it for two "emotional" songs, but the breakdown part - Jeff, Nels and Glenn sound like one instrument. It's magical.

There was a faithful cover done by a band called The Bomb Bassetts. Great song.

I shampoo'd my way over to Amsterdam from London on an EasyJet. Pretty cheap ticket, smooth flight. Vondel Park is pretty much incredible. Don't remember any of the names of the shops I went to, but if you're in the red light district, you won't have any problems finding what you're looking for.

"The Losing End" was great
I was hoping this would turn up. Thank you very much!

I still can't believe Karl Alvarez and Bill Stevenson are on this album!

That's nuts.

Wait...what???
Did they kick him out (presumably because he usually appears to be drunk) or did he go solo??? The good Cap'n is the center of that particular circle, IMO.
Wags is carrying that band IMO.

At the risk of sounding blasphemous,I think it's better than Pepper....at least I dig it more
Second.

"There She Goes" wins hands-down for Song Most Inappropriately Used in Advertising Campaigns.
Yeah, but that version with the chick singing is, like, amazing

Shake It Records in Cincinnati
If you're in Cincy (for some reason), this place is definitely worth a stop.

Guys, I think his review of The Washington Manual

That song might very well be the low point of Still Feel Gone. Which, otherwise, is the best thing Uncle Tupelo ever did.
I'm not too familiar with the titles but I always felt D Boone sounded too much like the song either right before or after it. The complicated time things going on in the middle of the album kind of lose me.
BTW, according to allmusic, one of the themes of Still Feel Gone is "Guys Night Out." Awesome.

Someone I know listened to it and told me about it. Feels more like Without a Sound & the later albums than another You're Living All Over Me. I think, I mean, he said he thought it was a pretty solid album. He's definitely going to buy it when it comes out because the leaked version is decidedly unmastered.
