  1. I told myself that I wasn't bitter when Zito signed with the Giants, but maybe I am subconsciously because I am enjoying his line from the A's game way too much: 4.0 IP, 6 H, 7 BB, 7 ER, 2 SO, 97 pitches.

  2. Since they are playing the O's, I'm stuck with the MASN broadcast even though I pay for Extra Innings. Because I live south of DC. Which apparently is Baltimore.

    I hate Bed Selig.

Don't get me started on the Saturday FOX blackout. :realmad

  3. Richie Sexson needs a nickname. Earlier I flipped to the Yanks/Mariners game during a commercial break during the Pistons game, and I think I heard one of them refer to him as "Big Sex".

Big Sexy, perhaps? That's his nickname.

  4. I wouldn't expect the A's to hit for shit. They'll have to get by on their pitching.

I wasn't expecting a whole lot, but watching/listening to the suckiness is annoying the crap out of me. (.654 OPS? Just... wow...) It just feels like anytime the other team scores even one or two runs the game is decided.

But yes, the starting pitching has been amazing, especially considering that Rich Harden is out with one of his semiannual injuries. Only three times has a starter allowed more than three runs, and only once has a starter given up more than three earned runs. The bullpen, on the other hand...

  5. My first Wilco show (12/8/01 show at the Ogden Theatre in Denver) involved the best road trip I've ever taken.

One of my best friends was about to graduate and go out into the real world, and I was going to go crazy if I didn't see Wilco soon. So she and I and another friend of ours decided to drive to Denver from Wichita as a last hurrah. Some dunderhead had the idea of stopping in Dallas first to see Mercury Rev, and the other two dunderheads thought it was a great idea for some reason.

Anyway, we ended up driving from Wichita to Dallas to Denver to Wichita in a little over 48 hours. By the end of the trip, there had been a towed car, a speeding ticket (I ask you, officer, why would anyone want to take her time driving through western Kansas?), and a little bit of crankiness, but mostly lots of fun. And those Wilco guys weren't half bad, either.

  6. Before the doors were open, Sue walked through the line and took requests. She wrote the song and the name of the requester on large sheets of paper which were taped down on stage as Jeff's songlist. For the most part, Jeff announced the names of the requesters from the stage.

That was very cool of her.
