I almost feel like I should like Coldplay just by virtue of the fact that Eno produced one of their records. He must have heard something he liked.
Yeah, the ka-ching of a cash register.

Oooo, those last two posts should definitely go on the "Now That's What I Call Musical Blasphemy" comp CD.

We're having dinner at my friend's parents' house. Too bad you can't make it!

Calculus. New York State equalization rates. Everything else I think I have a decent enough handle on, thanks!

The "hugs not drugs" saying will need replacing.
With "DON'T FUCKING TOUCH ME! Oh, and don't do drugs either."

I think they should electrify a mannequin and make the kid hug it so as to condition him not to be such a hug-slut.

In contrast to the above, I will say that any punk-rock album that sounds like it was made in a studio with real recording equipment has totally missed the point. (I give "Fear - The Album" a pass on this because I love that record.) Further, Green Day completely sucks warted moosedick, but everybody knows that.

No, I think it's OK and sometimes fun to oppose the prevailing viewpoint. I mean, it's just the Internet, after all.

Aww. A friend of mine actually worked for Al at one point. An odd boss, he reported, but not a schmuck and certainly interesting. He was not a happy man, Al - hope he finds more peace (or at least a hot piece) in the afterlife.

Did you write it yourself, man? You can be straight with us.

Jesus man, do you live in a humor-free hole?

Everything is bigger in Texas except for the size of the dick on whoever wrote that article.
Snort!

I think he's imaginary dead, so the kid has to go to imaginary prison.

What band was he in?

I hardly carry cash these days, so most of the time I won't give them money.
When I was a kid, maybe 6 or so, my dad took us to McDonald's for a birthday party, and there was a lady on the corner with a sign asking for money to feed her kids. Dad went through the drive-thru on our way out and bought her 10 cheeseburgers. He gave them to her and the woman just started crying and said "thank you" over and over again and said we were the first people to stop. I don't think I will ever forget that.
A few years ago around this time of year a woman approached me as I was getting on the elevator of the parking garage and she asked for money. I didn't have any, but I had a bag of chips and a pudding or something left from lunch. I offered it to her, and she scowled at me and said "I don't need that shit I need money" and walked away. Boggled my mind.
You can usually find someone to give you food, but drug dealers almost always want cash.

And of course Bob Wills and the guitar-playin' Vaughn brothers.
My neighbor texted and invited me to Christmas dinner with his family. Then my other neighbor invited me to dinner with *his* family. That would never have happened in any of my previous neighborhoods.
Ha - true. In New York, that would be seen as some kind of attempt to lure one in to be murdered.

I remember once I was hanging out in Burlington, Vt., and I came across a black fellow and I was like, "Damn, you must be awful lonely."
As a lifelong resident of the Hudson Valley in upstate New York, I can say there is a shit-ton of racism here, but it is considered extremely tacky to express it publicly. Get people in private and if they think you think like they think, you will hear things.

Seems a little extreme, but people are scared of black teen males more than any other demographic in this country. Was there a boner involved?

That's a singularly weird sensation when they're pulling the tooth out of your jaw, even with novocaine.

Anybody got a hackey sack?
Oh, and the Kings of Leon suck tremendous. That they are hugely popular in Europe pretty much negates the argument that Europeans have better taste than Americans.

The best Dead show I saw, I was stoned to the bejesus. Second best, I was sober as a judge. Worst, I was tripping my brains out. So there.

I love going through it and building on my seething resentment of the rich.

Actually, Al Goldstein is way too old and not in charge of said publication. Dennis Hof does fit in to the age criteria.

His greatness as an artist is indisputable, but hey, he's got bills too I imagine.
